Anyone with Crohns have severely cracked heels? My heels have been cracking for the past 2 years or so. Just looking for tried and true remedies to help.
Thanks,
Angela

I smear my feet and hands with Vaseline, cover them with socks and gloves, and sleep like that, so I do not have to deal with the cracking. Extra emollient night cream from mary kay works and is what gave me the idea, but vaseline is cheaper.

Not just us CDers, but my hubby is complaining about
this too. he has found it only shows up when he wears sandals versus socks and shoes/sneakers. Odd but being out in the air causes severe cracking and my feet have noticed the same thing too.
I bought Vaseline with aloe lotion and use that everyday before I put on socks

I've been told to use the Eucerin cream and put socks on. But I haven't tried it yet. I bought the cream, just haven't smeared it on yet. I have done the vaseline and it helps. I'm not sure if the cracked heels are from the Crohn's or from always wearing
open back shoes though. Interesting thought. I never had a problem until I started to wear
open shoes most of the winter, like wool clogs. Now my heels are ruined.

Bath & body works makes an excellent cracked heel relief cream. It comes in a big jar for 20.00 but should last you months and months. You only use it on your heels. It has worked wonders for me. This last winter I dealt with dry heels all the time. I would scrub and exfolitate and by the next day they would be rough and cracked again. Now I do a pedicure once a week and exfoliate but I use the heel cream every day out of the shower. They are smooth as can be now.

if you visit a chiropodist they wil take away the cracked damaged skin wth a small scapel. Doesnt hurt at all. The procedure leaves nice new skin on ur heels. Then just look after your feet there after and they wil be as right as rain

Wow! I was just using google to see what others had to say about
Flexitol heel balm before I visited the Crohn's board. I had my heel crack
open with the most painful crack a few weeks ago. I have been using the Flexitol for 3 days now, and the results are amazing!! I know I sound like a commercial, but it's true. I was using vaseline, coconut oil, Gold Bond, tea tree oil, the list goes on. The Flexitol is pricey, to me anyways, at $8.00 for a 4 ounce tube, but worth every penny to me. You can also return it if you don't like it, but I think you will! Hope this helps!

i've heard that cracked heals can be due to lack of essential fatty acids in the diet? maybe try upping your intake? like with avocados, almonds, oils?

Even with being in a constant flare for 19 yrs now, I have never had cracked heals...for the last 4 yrs I've been using extra virgin olive oil as a body moisturizer (including feet) my feet are amazingly soft as is the rest of me thanks to the EVOO plus I take vitamin A among other vitamins.
