rectal bleeding question

This is gross...warning.

The other day I had A LOT of blood come out in my stool. 4 times I went to the bathroom and had significant amount of blood and blood clots. Then it just went away the next day. I've had a lot of D in the past week or so...but I can't figure out what all the bleeding was about. It was bright red blood and I've never had blood in my stool the whole time I've had CD. I don't have hemroids that I know of. My mom was saying that it was waaay more blood than a hemroid would give. Could it be an abscess?? Should i inform my doctor? I just don't know if i should worry or dismiss it until it happens again.

If it's something unusual for you, I'd certainly call your doc about it and see what they think.

However, since you're not feeling too terrible, I wouldn't be TOO worried about it. I almost always tend to bleed if I've been having bad D for multiple days because things just get raw inside, and it can be a LOT of blood.

Remember that even a small amount of blood can seriously discolor the water in the toilet. :)

But yeah, call your doc and let them know what's going on. Just wanted to let you know that has happened to me multiple times.

I just had this happen for the first time in the 12 years I've had CD a few weeks back.  I called my GI and he prescribed a medrol dose pack and just said to let him know if it didn't help.  Haven't had any bloody D since then, but have noticed some on the toilet paper once or twice.  He didn't seem to be too worried about it just happening once, but I think you should call and let your dr. know.
