What is your first symptom and how long before it progresses?

For me it almost always starts with anal bleeding, my doc says they are engorged veins and hemmoroids like he would normaly see if I were pregnant ( guy by the way), but this is almost always when tapering off Crohns drugs, like prednisone, then comes the abdominal pain, then nausea, then lack of eating....Im sure you know the rest

Loss of appetite, diarrhea after eating, stomach pains

Extreme fatique!  Canker sores!  

My last flare started mid-August with extreme fatique.  I had an appointment with my GI for a regular follow-up appointment in mid-September.  He was p.o.'d that I hadn't called to get in to see him earlier.

I am the same as jdiane. Constipation....

Okay, that's a tad freaky that three people in a row have said their first sign of a flare is constipation, as my constipation seems to be getting worse. I don't know if it's constipation in the true sense of the word because when I go it's still liquid. I just go so much less than I used to. I'm not getting much in the way of pain, though - just a constant ache, deep in the pit of my stomach above my belly button and central, not right-sided.

In the past, though, diarrhoea has always been my main sign of Crohn's. Chronic diarrhoea which never went away. I don't really know if this was part of the Crohn's or not but back in 2005 I started to become very ill with fevers. Those lasted on and off for about two years, then disappeared as mysteriously as they came. (Since then I have had low-grade fevers, but nothing like the high fevers of a few years ago.)

Initially it was RUQ pain and took a long time to progress. Now I tend to see more frequent, looser stools as the first sign. It doesn't take long after that lately, but I've had a really bad past couple of years with my cd compared to prior years. I think it was the stress.

Fatigue and dry skin (particularly noticeable on my feet). Sometimes an eczema-type rash on my shin. Within a couple of days my stomach starts to sound like there's a caged, rabid beast within. After that comes urgency and all the unpleasantness.

Nausea, after I eat because it usually can't get through due to swelling or lord forbid an obstruction. Mouth sores too.
