Mucous BM

Hi all,

I have been having CD symptoms on and off for a few weeks now.  When I eat lately I get more distended then normal and more gassy as well but last night I had 2 BMs that were nothing but yellowish-white mucous and lots of gas.  Today I have been in extreme pain all day and used suppositories to have a bm to try and get the distention and pain to subside since that usually helps.

Any idea why I would pass mucous like that, only times before I can recall that happening was when I had my temp ostomy and they said my colon might make me do that on occassion and in the 4 months I had it it maybe happened 3-4 times.  I had that revered though in Jan of 08.  Any thoughts? 

I could be totally wrong - but I think I remember my doc saying something about producing a lot more mucus when those glands are inflamed.

It is my guess that you have inflammation in the rectum or sigmoid colon. But that is just my guess. That is where my most chronic inflammation is and when it's bad I pass a lot of mucous.

You might want to call your GI to tell him/her about this. I use a 5-ASA enema to resolve this local inflammation.
