Okay, is this some weird side-effect of Crohn's? about
2 months ago my ears started ringing. It might have started when I got a bad cold/ear infection, but possibly just out of the blue as well. I am getting tired of the ringing! Anybody else experience this with Crohn's, and what did you do about
it???

Oh my gosh.
I thought this was just me. My left ear has had this problem for well over a year now. I've mentioned it to my doctors and they've shrugged it off. If you come across any answers, I'd sure love to know!

No, it's not "all in your head."

Anemia can cause tinnitus. It does for me...

Asacol, sulfasalazine, Pentasa...all can cause ringing in the ears...for me, it wasn't so bad when I was just taking the asacol, but add the sulfasalazine, man, the ringing can drive me NUTS...sometimes I skip a dose of he sulfasalazine just to lessen the intensity...

I've gotten some of this too, this year. I've attributed it to sinus congestion, but started wondering recently if it wasn't a CD thing. Thanks for asking the question! Not sure what to do about
it. I do use a nasal steroid when things get bad and that seems to help.

I get this too, and it can be incredibly distressing when at its worst.
I always attributed it to fibromyalgia: interesting to hear it might be Crohn's or meds instead.
However, it might be a good idea to get your ears tested, just to make sure there's nothing else going on.

and I thought it was just me! Good to know it's probably caused by my meds...

For the record, mine started before I was on any meds for IBD. In fact, mine started around the time when I think my disease originally became very active (around the time of my multiple ER trips in early 2009).

Well, looks like my ears are almost completely plugged with wax, which is likely causing the ringing and occassional pain. I'm sooooo glad it seems that it's an easy fix! The Naturopath did a flush of hydrogen peroxide and water in my ears to help loosen the wax, and then told me to buy "Debrox" which also helps to soften the wax. Hopefully this will work, and flushing my ears in the shower will get it all out, and I can be rid of this incessant noise!
