Depends on the dose of pred, but she should notice some relief within 24-48 hours if the dose is high enough

I was put on 40mg of Prednisone and within 2 days I started to see a change. Hope it works just as fast for your neice so you can enjoy your vacation!

Phenergran works instantly for me to get me to stop throwing up, but it makes me sooo sleepy that all I can do is sleep. I agree with everyone else that prednisone takes about 1-2 days for me as well.

If she's still throwing up, I would see if your dr. would prescibe zofran too so she can be awake and not throwing up! :)

I agree with misspriss82. Plus the Zofran ODT is great because it would just go under her tongue and would absorb that way and it doesn't taste bad. I hope she is starting to feel better. Nothing like going away and getting sick.

If she gets phenergen, and you mentioned vacation, which makes me think of sun, please keep this in mind.

Phenergen causes sun exposure time to increase in a way I can't explain.  If she is out in the sun on phenergen, be careful, or she can catch a sunburn fast.

Sunscreens can help, so can clothes, big umbrellas, or something to block out the sun.

Google Phenergen if you need to know more, or ask your pharmacist, they can explain it to you much better than me.

Ended up in the ER. She was given IV steroid and a script for Prednisone 40mg and Zofran.  She has been doing better until today. Started vomiting again and cramps.  She is having difficulty eating bland b/c it is "vacation" time.  But starting tomorrow, very bland, chicken soup etc.  I feel bad for her, but she will feel better this way. 

My Crohns symptoms don't include throwing up....that would be awful.  Poor little thing! They are from Oklahoma and visiting me in Maine.  She definately won't be white water rafting!
