Thanks everyone for the responses.
My daughter is now 14 years old and was diagnosed at 11 with crohns. We are trying to do as much as possible to keep her off the strong meds, so we are trying anything alternative that cannot hurt her. Being so young, I worry about the long term effects of these meds. We had great success last year with LDN and the SCD diet. In 4 months, she gained 12 lbs and grew 4 inches. I was over the moon with joy that we found something that helped. She went almost a year without flaring. That was this past Christmas. And now 3 months later, another flare. I don't know why it didn't work this time. I know she has cheated on the diet as we went to Mexico in March, so she may have some yeast overgrowth which causes the LDN to not work. We will try again after she tapers off the Prednisone. I think I will add some Nystatin to kill off any yeast though and increase her Pentasa too. But this Hookworm therapy does interest me. I will ask the doc more questions in May when I take my daughter back for follow up. My daughter is creeped out by the thought of worms, but I am more creeped out by the scary meds.
