can it be crohn's

New to the forum just registered here is some info 55 year old mum 2 grown children 3 grandchildren live in northern ireland. Have had stomach probs all my life Nissen Fundlipication at 6 weeks old rare in a girl so i'm told, couldn't eat certain foods without pain wind and the big C so i avoided them never weighed more than 7 stone couldn't seem to put weight on. about 5/6 years ago pain started getting really bad ended up in A and E often told i had IBS, stress or depression told to go away and deal with it after many tests also told at 1 time had overflow diarrhea. Pain constantly in LRQ and gallbladder area now they say they will check 4 Crohn's but are also trying to blame my operation after 55 years, had a SBS approx 3 weeks ago going for Catscan in 3 weeks time wouldn't tell me if they could see anything on SBS. i get the impression they are only doing these as i dropped to 5 stone 9 and they want to shut me up and get rid of me as i am not physically sick and do not have diarrhea, tried telling them cannot be sick with my Nissen Fundlipication just dry heaves. Any thoughts or help very much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply really appreciate it. the doctors here aren't very clued up on Crohn's try there best i suppose. The Gastro I have now seems nice enough but only saw him for about 10 minutes he's the one that ordered the tests, dietician i have is lovely young girl very understanding, consultant surgeon isn't very nice implied i was anorexic or bulimic just kept me in huspital for two weeks and monitored everything i ate. Asked why i had disappeared for 3 years and hadn't seen anyone didn't like it when i said was sick of being told it was all in my head

Don't know whether or not they have that here or not slightly behind the times, but the plus side is very quiet lovely people and beautiful country, might have to go to England or Scotland for that.

I'll take a shot at your questions -
1. is it possible to suffer constipation instead of diarrhoea ? Yes, a lot of people here complain of constipation and/or slow bowels.
2. is it possible Crohn's will not show up on blood tests ? Yes, you can have pain and not show inflammatory markers on blood tests.
3. can you suffer pain every time straight after eating ? Yes.
4. i always itch and scratch after eating especially on legs and arms. Sounds like an allergy to me.
5. is a sign of Crohn's not digesting food properly sorry to be gross but certain foods coming out totally undigested ? could be, but some foods are just like that, and that happens to everyone occasionally, I think.

Well going for CT scan this Thursday, SBFT came back as normal beginning to give up again, still in pain right hand side pelvis and under ribs all the time, don't know what i can take for this given no info at all. Any help with pain relief that you can offer greatly appreciated, really fed up and down now.

hey mouth just say what a great country you live in. can cd cause c. you bet it can depends on where your cd is mine is way up high in small bowel so narrowing and c is big concern, i can have both c and or d.

My GI just told me the other day that only about 30% of people with CD actually have it show in their blood work.

Well went 4 CT scan 2 day not as bad as i thought just the horrible drink looked like water tasted like c**p told to phone and ask the Consultants secretary 4 results in 2 weeks time if i had not heard anything by then, staff were lovely as it was only a small hospital out in the sticks a lot more welcoming and put me at my ease thank god. The last one i had 5 years ago the nurse wasn't the best with the dye injection think she was digging 4 gold.

I am just so fed up being fobbed off and you get to the stage where you don't want to bother, i don't know how you have all managed to cope over the years it must be soul destroying at times, just hope i hear someting soon. "Question" After the CT scan with dye did anyone else suffer terrible D along with cramps and gas is this normal ?

Back in hospital again 4 6 days did a transvaginal ultrasound told it was nothing to do with them. now back 2 Gastro down 4 colonoscopy and upper endoscopy only no idea when told waiting list very long. Told by own GP down 4 lapro then told by hospital no i am not don't think the right hand knows what the left hand are doing still in pain all the time in right hand corner so fed up with all this carry on just living on pain killers all the time and they constipate me all the time which makes it worse, the joys of the NHS and just found out my sis in law died on Tuesday due to hospital negligence not diagnosing her properly really instills confidence "NOT".
