Hi all. My name is Larry but go by Ed (nickname). I was diagnosed with UC in '75. Had total colectomy in '79. Disease spread to sm. int. and got re-diagnosed with Crohn's. GM retired me on perm. disability in '88 due to many medical leaves of absence. I think I've taken all the "standard" meds for Crohn's folks. I've been on many for decades. Talk soon.....

I am new here too. Sounds like your a veteran in the Crohn's Dept. (sorry) I was diagnosed in 2003. I went from never a clue...or a health problem to BAM, one day (under high stress at the time) I was sick. I have been trying to manage it ever since. I hope you are able to manage yours well. This is a super supportive board and has helped me, and I hope it does you too. Have a great day/weekend.

Howdy! I am relatively new as well. My hubby is the one with CD, diagnosed in early 09. His father has had a total colectomy and his sister has had several resections. So it runs in his family. But it is still kinda new to us!

Welcome to the board! Llama is right, there are a lot of caring folks on here! And hi to you too, Llama! :)

hey moose are you ssdi? if so how long did you wait, I was denied on july 5th so i've appealed it's in the reconsideration stage, i lost my job in feb of this year due to cd, I've had it for 40 years, i'm 60 just can not be in work place, way to many issues, my lawyer said if you got denied in 4 months it usually is another 4 months, i just hope i get on before my state disability runs out.

Hey all. Thanks for the welcomes. A.Guy, I've been getting SSI since '89. I had to wait a year after GM retired me. But working for GM, I collected 95% of my pay for the year I had to wait on SSI. I had to take medical leaves due to frequent flare-ups. Some leaves lasted 6+ months. I guess GM figured they'd save some $$$ by retiring me. I'm only 57 but was dx'ed (diagnosed?) at age 22. I'm currently seeing THE specialist on Crohn's Disease. Trying some new meds...we'll see.
