The new guy here. Anyone taking Colestid? If yes, any feedback.

Yes, I'm taking it. LOVE IT. It controls the diarrhea better than anything. Start off with one pill, see what that does, then bump it up to two - if need be. You need to be careful though - it will cancel out anything you take with it. I have to time my other meds. I wake up - take my calcium pills first thing in the morning. An hour later I take the Colestid. My remaining meds are taken at night, before I go to bed. Feel free to reach out to me. Good luck.

Hey Dreamer. I wish I had your good fortune with the Colestid. The doc started me on 1 in the a.m. & 1 at night...spacing at least 3hrs. from all the other meds I take. Day 2 & 3 were incredible. It had been decades since I felt that good. Then it all went to hell. From day 4 forward was worse than my regular bad days. Gas & volume were much worse so he told me to bump it up to 2 &2. Things got worse still so I stopped the Colestid. In fact, today (Sat.) is the first day with no Colestid and I'm hoping.................I know the doc has other meds he wants to try so we'll see when he calls next week. Keep your fingers crossed. Are you sure it was the Colestid giving you these problems and not food you were eating.  Did you start any other med  at the same time. Usually Colestid does calm things down ....and makes you feel lots better.

I have Colestid and also the powder version. When I take it, I get cramping and gas, BUT it does slow me down. My original dose was 4 pills a day, which was way too much for me. I now take it only if I will be someplace where there is limited bathroom access (planes or car trips) and I only take 1 or 2. You might find that after a week or so your body will adjust to it and the cramping and gas will go away. There are many members here who swear by this med.
