B-12 is only absorbed in the terminal illeum. If yours is a mess, you're not getting any out of your food, ergo the shots.
Look forward to the colonoscopy because you'll get a lot of clarity and answers from that. Make sure you have a follow up scheduled with whoever gives it to you, because at least with me, I'm too high after the test to remember a thing LOL.
Compounding pharmacies often make a skin cream that will put b-12 in your bloodstream without going thru your intestines -- but put the b-12 issue on your list to talk to our doc about
, ok?
I lived on a powder called "Ultimate meal" from the ultimate life co. maybe you can check it out!
Also cooked carrots, potatoes and stuff like that worked good for me once i could do food. White bread/gluten products "gummed up the works" if that's any help.
Also, if you have a health food store nearby, fresh juiced veggies like carrots are great, no fiber or pulp and a sense of really having done something great for yourself.
all the best.
:)
OH! My terminal illium stricture resolved internally by using Low Dose Nalterxone. It rebuilt itself from hard-as-rock, to "normal". Externally it was aided by releasing 2 adhesions and removing my appendix which was also adhered.
It does not work perfectly but it's pretty great now! I have an upper bowel stricture now, which was released in the same surgery, but seems to have re-adhered a bit, so I'm still careful with food but Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
