It's a religious festival that marks the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is a month of fasting.

We have some Islamic people on the forum, and I think it's nice to remember when someone is having a special day, don't you?

Tsitodawg, I think so too. I'm pretty sure that the sick and pregnant are exempted from fasting, but, either way, I think that anybody who can endure such a time deserves lots of congratulations!

ps. Especially as a lot of Islamic people are fasting in a hot climate: I can't imagine going without food or drink in that sort of weather.

Ivy, thanks for explaining - I should know this, especially since I have Muslim inlaws! I'm sure they are all happy to be able to eat and drink during daylight hours again! :)

Thank you for your warm greeting. I must say i found the fasting quite therapeutic. I was in less pain, and going to the bathroom once a day, and my stools were formed. It was quite a surprising, i feel I should fast more often, but I love eating too much. Anybody else had the same or different experience? :)
