HELP! I messed up my first shot of Humira.

Two weeks ago I had injection class where I injected myself 4 times with the assistance of a nurse. Today I was suppose to do 2 shots at home by myself. I psyched myself out, and I pulled the needle out before the medicine deployed so it ended up just squirting onto my leg instead of inside it. I called Humira, and they told me to do the other shot and wait for their quality control representative to contact me first thing tomorrow morning to get me a replacement. I did the 2nd shot perfectly. I feel so stupid for messing up the shot.

Do they send you a replacement for free?

Is this going to affect me my progress into remission?

I'd guess that they replace it for free. It probably happens a lot when people start Humira.

Assuming you get it within a few days, I'd guess it wouldn't make much of a difference in your progress.

Yes, they should. This happend with my son who said it was faulty pen so I called pharmacist in panick (Humira is like gold) The pharmicist said it
was probaly a miss fire. They had him send the faulty (or my sons fault) pen back and were kind enough to replace it. Now we make sure
when cap is off it is next to his stomach where he injects. I think this might happen to people frequently because the pen is trigger sensitive.
Please don't feel stupid this is new to you, just make sure the pen is at injection sight before removing cap. Abbott sent the replacement pen
immediatly. You should get it in time. Best regards!

I called 1-800-4-HUMIRA first thing this morning, and they are going to overnight 2 pens to my pharmacy FREE of charge. I'm instructed to take the injection that I missed right away and then go back to my "every other Wednesday" routine. The second pen is a back up in case I have another problem. I just have to wait around Friday morning until the pharmacy calls me that they've received the shipment. My self-esteem is already really low from being sick for so long, and now I feel really stupid for messing this up.

dont feel bad, honestly it doesnt get worse than me! I was at uni and left my pens in my fridge in my room and went home for abit. Came back down to inject, and whoops, the fridge had died. Who knows how long it was out and the heat at the time was hitting 33 degrees celcius. Boy did i ever feel stupid when i had to ring and explain how i'd killed 4 pens in one fell swoop!

They replaced them asap, no problems!

Just make sure you hold it for a good 10 seconds after you hit the button. I hold it for 20 seconds just to make sure I get every drop.

I've had two misfires! One was a faulty pen and one was totally my fault, lol. It happens.

Please dont feel stupid - i just had that mishap 2 weeks ago with the pen (MY FAULT)
