say one thing positive about Crohns

I don't have Chrons but I can say that the only positive thing I've gotten out of having UC is an excuse to avoid obligations. I just say I don't feel well and people let me off the hook pretty easily. It's usually the truth.

I also have become a lot more understanding and more compassionate towards people because of my illness. I used to think really stupid things were important, being ill has put life in perspective. It's funny how many of my friends are still obsessed with little, insignificant nonsense. It's hard for me to listen and relate, honestly, no one cares what shoes you're wearing.

I've have gained extensive medical knowledge over the last 20 years. If I had known I was this smart and had this capacity for learning 20 years ago, I would have become a doctor. But not a GI. :)

It's turned me into a very healthy eater. If I didn't have crohn's, I'd probably still be eating processed crap, drinking pop, etc.

- Makes you more compassionate.
- People who are truly friends will stay with you.
- Appreciate your health more when you have it.
- Met my fiance because of it.

My daughter has learned so much about nutritional supplements, medical issues, etc, that her friends go to her for advice on health issues. 

I used to be a horrible perfectionist, and this disease has taught me that there are things far beyond my control that I can't make perfect. Also- it has taught me that it's okay to accept help when I need it. Tough lessons to learn, but ones I had to.

I am more understanding of chronic illness - but definitely, in my case, not thinner! :)

sorry, cannot find a single positive thing to say about having crohn's...might have to do with the fact that in my entire 19 yrs of having this DD I've never once experianced a full remission, even if I had though, I likely still could not find anything positive about having this DD.

Thank god I'm finally not the only one.

I listed my one and only "positive", but I would go back to my weight at diagnosis in a heartbeat rather than live with this miserable, unremitting (for me) condition a day longer.

Nothing. Not a thing. This DD has damaged my life to a large extent. Kept me from getting jobs I wanted, recreation, travel...............................

Ummm, I get so sick from fried foods and dairy that i had to cut them out.  So tons of fats I was eating, I no longer do.  :)

It has given me an unusually high tolerance for pain.
