I had that problem a few months ago. I am no longer losing my eye lashes just my hair. I am on 6MP so I figured that was the cause. I wouldn't think poor diet or malabsorption would be the cause. I know you can lose your hair from poor diet but was told that shouldn't cause your eye lashes to fall out. What meds are you on? Maybe it is a side effect and you didn't realize it? I told my Dr and was told it was common with a lot of the meds and to not worry. My Dr acted like it was no big deal and seemed shocked I asked. But last time I checked a normal person would question why they are losing their eye lashes and hair. Hope your GI gives you a better answer I was not happy with mine and blew it off.

Vicky I really think it could be from diet. When I was recovering from my kidney surgery, my hair was shedding like crazy. I think it was because 1) I was hardly eating and 2) the stress of the surgery. Its still shedding, but not quite as bad now.

In addition, smoking is one of the most critical factors in relapsing crohn's.  

Hair loss could be from Lupus as well.
