B12 Shots Not Working!!

Has anyone else had problems with their B12 and the shots not working?? I did the loading shots for 4 weeks then i have been on the monthly shots for 4 months and my B12 is still really low. My doc is having me reload for 4 weeks and try again. I'm already to the point of exaustion and I have some nerve damage going on with a numb pinky finger. I'm getting worried. What if the reload doesn't work? Then what do they do??

The B12 shot is supposed to go into the muscle. I do my own shots right in my shoulder muscle. The only thing I need to be sure of is that my new needles go in deep enough.

What are loading shots? Is it possible your b12 isn't getting in your muscle?

I take 1ml every time. loading dose is the same ml just once a week for 4 weeks then switch to once a month. I suppose it's possible i'm not getting it into a muscle...i'm overweight and i give it in my leg. perhaps i'll try my arm next time. thanks!!

I've always gotten mine subcutaneously (in fat), not in muscle, and my B12 levels have gone up after getting the shots.

Do some people not see an improvement or not absorb it when it's not in the muscle?

I'm a little confused, and wondering if I'm doing it wrong. The pharmacist even asked me if mine were to be given in muscle or fat. Hmmm???

have you tried other ways of getting b-12? sublingual, patch, nasal spray, very high oral doses? if not you might talk to your doc about doing that at the same time you're doing the shots to get your b-12 up quickly.

You should go the the doctors office the next few times you get the shot and have them do it. That way if you start to absorb it and levels go up you'll know it wasn't being injected properly when you were doing it?

I do mine every 2 weeks. Works for me. IM in the shoulder muscle. I'd never make it monthly!!
