For those that support the Map theory and Prof John Hermon Taylor's work, his vaccine has received a grant allowing it to be tested on cattle and he is hoping to raise money for the manufacture of the MVA.HAV first vaccine component this year.(28 Mar 10)

If it is a vaccine, would it help any of us that are already affected or just be used as preventative for our kids or others at risk? Or are we assuming if we get rid of MAP in cattle that it will not be transferred to humans?

I don't know too much about it all tbh but this is the info I have come up with- Conventional vaccines make antibodies to prevent disease. They could not work in CD as the MAP bugs are already there inside cells(I don't know how they got there though ?!). Modern vaccines make armies of hunter-killer cells which patrol the body getting rid of infected cells. So modern vaccines can be used to treat diseases caused by chronic infections.

The vaccine consists of MAP DNA in two harmless carrier viruses called Ad5 and MVA. These carriers are already working in approved clinical trials with other modern vaccines. In the Crohn's Disease vaccination treatment procedure, the Ad5 is given first and the MVA boost 6 weeks later.
So I am assuming that yes it will/can be given to those that are already affected. Fingers crossed.

I have read some about the MAP Theory but it I haven't taken the time to sit down and take it all in. I hope with all I have that the vaccine can be given to those of us that are already affected!

mmm interesting.

I firmly believe crohn's is bacteria related and think the MAP Theory makes alot of sense. Prof John Hermon Taylor sounds like a fascinating guy. I would love to find out more about the vaccine he's developing. I wonder can Crohns patients volunteer for this vaccine if and when it may be tested on humans. I am in Ireland but would fly to London in an instant to be part of any trials.

I always remember the first pains in my tummy being when i drank milk. Then i found out recently that my mother started me drinking cows milk when i was 3/4 months old because i point blank refused to drink the baby formula she was giving me. I wonder is that the connection. What a silly baby i was not to stick with the formula!!

From what I recall(although I may be way off the mark as in it could be someone else)but I think he actually retired once(although in his photo he doesn't look old enough to have retired(perhaps I have got it wrong)) but came out of retirement because he really wanted to put an end to peoples suffering with crohns. I also believe that he is totally independent of any of the drugs companies(no bad thing).

If you google him there is a page with him and his work on it with a link to contact him-it may be worth a try!

Just to let you know guys that you can also find him and his theories on you tube. There is also a guy from the uk called Tim page who I found just by chance when I was on facebook.
I e mailed him, not thinking for one second that he would reply, but within 24hrs he replied with lots of info on this very subject.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post on here his contact details but if it's ok'd by moderators I'm more than happy to pass the e mail address, website page etc to you.
Iv read some stuff on it and it is food for thought. !!!!

I found him too last year(facebook) and he is a strong advocate of the MAP theory and the work that is being done by Prof J H Taylor.

I did some investigating and called King's College in London, England. It turns out Dr. Taylor is still doing this research and is looking at setting up a trust fund and a website so people can donate money for human clinical trials. In the meantime, he is still accepting donations through King's College of London, England. Please contact them if you are interested. There are also facebook groups with instructions.

He has already developed the human vaccine to eradicate MAP in people with Crohn's Disease. Map is a very slow cycle bacteria which makes it extremely difficult to find in CD patients, but Dr. Taylor has also invented a new test that can detect MAP faster. My understanding is that almost all people with CD have MAP.

****Whether or not MAP is the cause or a contributor of CD will be determined by clinical trials. We shall have to wait to find out for sure.

I am so thankful that there are people trying to find our cure.
