Latest saga MD Anderson

 We have been waiting for one final test result from MD Anderson . The one we need before my wife starts cancer treatment . Its been a month. My wife has been calling and e mailing for over a week now yesterday we finaly got the result and it's, there is no result. The test never was done. The lab says they never got the request. They are sorry but we will have to wait another week or so,,,well guess what. MD Anderson can shove it . Wife is starting over with a new hospital today. I am sooooooo angry , just lucky for MD Anderson that I am over four hours away or I would be in there lobby making a very ugly scene. I told them that if something happens to my wife because of their screw ups and delays, a law suit would be the least of there worries because I would be coming pay a visit . We have heard wonderful things about this place and now all I can say is what a quantity of bull crap.....

Nanners, the doctor knows but says all she can do is request the test again. Doesn't matter now because we will not go back to them. What if there communications are this bad elsewhere in the hospital? Wife could get the wrong med or the wrong dose. My wife has called and set apts. up with her doctors here and they have talked to her. They are working together to refer her to another hospital. Both say they knew of things happening at MD Anderson but could not believe how bad this was . We will write a nice letter to MD Anderson and explain why we will not return. I'm sure they will file that in the trash and lose no sleep over it. I intend to talk to their board of directors. I am also thinking of a call to the Houston news papers. The hospitol may not like this in the news with all of their great advertising about what a great place they have .

Ohhhh wait it gets better. When we were there in Aug. the doc told us she was going to run the test on the tissue from the biopsy taken by doctors here. She said , If there is enough tissue but if not we will have to do another biopsy. We asked how long it would take to find out if there was enough tissue because we were there and could wait if another biopsy was needed. She said it would take as long as a week and we should go home. Well, they found out they did not do the test wed. evening and then called thur. morning and said there was not enough tissue and they would treat her without the test. I dont think so !!!! Now I am really POed because they are lying to us. We are not going back there. I cant stand liars.Now when I hear that MD Anderson commercial on the TV and radio saying how they care and what a great place they have I think ,sure , no one complains because they bury their mistakes,,literally . Right now we are busy trying to get treatment for my wife, but, they have not seen the last of me. I will take an add out in the Houston papers if I need to. You guys can spread the word too.

OMG, I can't believe you had an issue like this with your wife's cancer. Sometimes, you have to trust your gut. I am very sorry this happened to you both. It's a crying shame. I've heard of people walking out of hospitals and clinics held in high esteem. I heard something good about cancer centers of america but that's not an option for everyone. I doubt it would be for me. I hope and pray for your wife's recovery. You shouldn't be treated like this.

I don't know if you have the physical and emotional energy for another fight right now, but if you do, then please think about making an official complaint. It'd make you feel happier, and I think someone does need to experience some consequences after messing you boht around like this :-(.

We have an apt. Mon. with her doctor and will prob. start treatment where she had it before. We can wait anymore. We will write a letter and file a complaint with MD Anderson and also talk to a member of their board of directors, but I doubt if this will help anyone else. We are like a gnat on an elephant here. I will however warn anyone I can to beware of shotty treatment there. I have nothing good to say about them.

      I bet I know what happened. They were probably a victim of their own success. They may have so many patients now, they cannot keep track. Its so sad, after years of hearing great things about this hospital. And it comes to this..

     I'd start a letter writing campaign to newspapers in their general area, exposing this incompetency & lack of care if I were in your shoes..

IVY6, their billing department does NOT work better! I chose MDA for my mammograms because I'm a high risk woman (with a 1st degree relative who had breast cancer). I've never had cancer, and they did treat me really well after my previous breast clinic went bananas over a funky ultrasound result. HOWEVER, they keep sending me statements indicating they're waiting for an insurance settlement on FOUR different physician bills. My insurance company says they've never received any bills (but who can believe an insurance company, really?). So I don't want to go in for my next scan because I'm ultimately responsible for the $$$$ they're charging. If they can't figure out how to process an insurance claim ***? I'm frustrated, too.

I'm so sorry, Sniper, that you didn't get good care at MDA. I know plenty of people who are still on this earth because they went there, but I certainly understand how freaking frustrating your particular experience was. {{{{HUGS}}}}} and best wishes for your wife's full and complete recovery.

Hope you dont hear about me on the news either Randy , butttttt, I can always plead insanity.
