cry  hi everyone stuck in hosp 4wks now had stricture removed then had to go back in again there was a hole leak so then had a resection .still draining wants it to dry up  b4 eating on tpn how do you cope being in this long has anyone had the samething and did you get through it also a single mum witch is hard advice please.

So sorry your stuck in hospital and having a bad time, my last hospital stay was for 5 weeks when I had to have emergency surgery and ended up with an ileostomy. My kids are grown so I didn't have that problem. Do you have family to help you? I managed to cope by making sure I exercised every day just walked and walked the hallways of the hospital and chatted to the nurses and some patients that wanted a chat. Also watched some tv, I guess its a case of having to cope that gets us through. Wish I could help you out more, I'm sure there will be others along with some words of wisdom that have also been through the same thing, also keep posting we are all here to listen and help whenever possible. Take good care of yourself and hope you will have a speedy recovery :-)

Wow - that's got to be sooo hard. I'm so sorry for all that you are going through. And on top of it all you've got your kids to worry about. Who is watching them for you while you are in the hospital? I hope they are able to stay with someone and that you have some kind of family or friends to support you. I've never been in the hospital for that long - I can imagine that you must be going crazy. I hope they can get you fixed up and better enough to leave. Sending good thoughts your way. Keep your chin up!

37 days was my longest stint. I found it helped to focus on one thing at a time instead of multitasking (e.g. read that magazine *or* watch tv, but don't do both at the same time) so I would be less likely to get bored. Also zenning out and not allowingn myself to get overly irritated by the usual hospital silliness helped too.

I hope you can get out soon. Are you still on TPN?

ps. Have you been able to talk with a social worker or similar and get some help for yourself and your children?

still on tpn, see social wrkr today need blood trans my patass magn wont behave soo full fluid trying to move cos all iv fluids crazi so tight had melt down today aswell and am incontenent to wich is bad trying to be strong kids with mum i am an aged carer so being this side strange thanks for help please confused
