I have been on it (unofficially) for just a week whilst I wait for an appointment with a dietician. We had a big earthquake recently and life is far from normal with aftershocks continuing (up to 800 now I think!) and a big clean up / rebuild in progress.
I haven't had the tests yet either and am not sure if I will as they are quite expensive but as far as the the diet goes so far so good.
I had 2 'clean out' preps in two weeks for endoscopy (1st one cancelled by earthquake) so started the diet post flare with a lovely clean digestive system. I have had a VERY good week so far - no D and better than usual energy levels - so am feeling like this may be the diet for me. I have been wheat free for a while so it may well be the frutcose/galactan side that causes me problems.
I have not cut out dairy fully at the moment as I only have milk in tea once a day and a real coffee once a day but would cut it out if I felt it would help. I also have acidophilus yoghurt in smoothies but only a couple of times a week at most.
Feel very positive as I have had contact with a GI who was involved in the testing at Box Hill in Australia and he is very good.
Hope it helps you - makes more sense for me that the SCD as the use of honey and fruit on that one just didn't suit me which again ties in well with the FODMAP. I also like the science and medical testing behind it but thats just me :)
All the best
Lesley
