Hello everybody, I’d like to take a few minutes to introduce myself. First of all I am not really sure if I belong to this forum as I have not been diagnosed with Crohn’s desease (yet?).
Thing is that since May (5 months now) I have not been feeling well at all. It started with some diarrhoea, which I didn’t pay any attention to as I was on a trip and usually food changes will induce it. Then an anal fissure made me go to the doctor. After trying to control it for a month, another doctor made a rectoscopy to check the depth of the fissure and he said it was “nothing”. At the same time I started having some high temperature (around 38C) at night, coughing and feeling a little nauseated. My haemoglobin started to drop too.
It all started to diverge but by that time I was moving to another city and changing job so my health was not my main priority. I tried some diarrhoea stoppers, probiotics, and sulfasazamstuff and they didn’t work. At my new city, my new doctor gave me Pentasa (mesazalistuff) and Prednisolone and my general health improved a little for a few days until my stomach begun to bloat. It was so painful that I went to the ER just to wait for 6 hours to hear the ER doctors tell me they didn’t know what it was. At least I got a priority listing for a colonoscopy.
The colonoscopy was ok, they could look up to the small bowel and there were no signs of inflammation, but the biopsy showed some granulomas resembling Crohn’s. I kind of feel pissed off since there is no doctor that will actually follow my case, I have seen 7 different doctors so far and I have an appointment for a MR with an 8th. It’s like nobody will take my pain seriously. All in all, I “think” my haemoglobin is still low as I feel like sleeping the whole day. I have lost 15 kg (or more) in these 5 months, fissure still bothering, nausea every day, the whole day. I’m not taking any medication whatsoever but the MR doctor prescribed Entocort to start right after the MR study. I also started writing a food journal and noticed that cheese, milk, eggs and alcohol will drive my stomach crazy!
This kind of pain has affected me in so many ways now. I can not eat and that stresses me a lot since I really used to “enjoy” eating, I dropped every sport activity I was practising to just lay on the couch complaining about my stomach being painful. I’ve lost so much weight my clothes won’t fit anymore, and I have even lost my sexual appetite. I’m now waiting for the MR to take place end of next week, mean while, does anybody has any suggestion or ideas that could help me through these days?
