CD plus odor

I didn't notice this post from yesterday until I saw your post today. I have noticed that I feel smelly no matter how many showers I have or if I have a bowel movement or not... I sit on the couch and can smell an odour. It makes me feel horrible and depressed and I hate to say it but I refuse a lot of visitors lately beause of it. I kind of think it is the constant gas and constipation causing the smell plus the piles of pills I take.

I think you can of course mention any questions u have to your dr but for me I think it is just another unfortunate part of this disease.

One thing I notice is when I am flaring...I have more gas. And sometimes it is what I call toxic! One thing I hate about this disease is the embarrassment. Noise and odor. It was esp. hard when I was at work.

One thing I found...(this is only for bathroom odor) is this product called Poopauri. not sure if that is spelled right.
It is a bathroom spray that you spray in the toilet water before you go and it creates a seal and has a mild citrus spell. The best thing is you can get it in a tiny container that fits in your pocket or in the palm of your hand...

So maybe what you are smelling is lingering...
Or maybe you are right it is from your meds. I had a friend who went through chemo & said she could smell it through the pores on her skin. I would talk to the doc about it.

Poo-Pourri is a godsend! It's always been a bit embarrassing to leave a strong, lingering bathroom odor, especially when in public or at a friend's house (and you can't find any airfreshener!!!!). Poo-Pourri comes in various sizes and scents, and the 2 oz. bottle is perfect for the purse. (I imagine a man could conceal it in his hand if necessary.) Just google Poo-Pourri!

Harley I have never heard of this. I have experienced the stinky bm's etc. but not a odor from the area. I think you need to talk to your doc about this. Could be maybe a yeast infection in the area?? Just taking a guess here. Let us know what the doc says.

I agree that you should talk to your doctor. You may also want to try some scented, flushable wipes--not just when you use the bathroom, but whenever you feel that you're smelling crummy. Maybe that will help, if only a little. Good luck!

I've never had smell coming from my backside but before when, I had fistulas I would have a strong odor from the pus and I was very self conscious about it. So I know the embarassment you're talking about. It sucks. But you should ask your doctor about it maybe he can help.

well, I do have a couple.
For one thing, I have an ostomy, and although there's supposed to be no odor, sometimes I can just smell feces. Sometimes not.. it's usually when the pouch is getting a bit older.. peroxide or mouthwash helps somewhat/

Also, I have perisnal Crohn's so sometimes I just smell infection, if that makes any sense. I have 3 fistulas that constantly drain pus, so sometimes I feel I just exude infection smell.. like if you have a boil that pops and you smell the discharge, ... that would be the same smell;. Gross.

re: the smell of gas, if you go to the pharmacy in the home health care area.. near the ostomy supplies they have oror antagonist sprays, the one I use is called Hex On. You spray it and it eats the smell way better than febreze or glade or any of those. And in Canada, the one you drip into the toilet prior to a bm is called Just a Drop. It works, as well.
