Hi,

Just curious......what is the no.1 problem you have living with Crohn's Disease?

I will get the ball rolling....
The biggest problem I have living with Crohn's Disease is that I can't plan too far ahead into the future as I never know when a flare is going to happen. This makes it really hard and frustrating to set goals and plan my life.

Looking forward to hearing what other people are experiencing!

the fear that a flare can happen and take over your life at any moment. thats my #1 problem right now... that and Constipation. :)

Fatigue. If I didn't have fatigue, I'd be doing pretty well. My problem could be more thyroid related, rather then crohn's related though.

It's a tie for me. Not having enough energy to do the things I want vs. knowing that an obstruction could happen any day and tomorrow I could be having emergency surgery.

On the average daily basis it would have to be a toss-up between fatigue and joint pain. I feel like that has affected my life the most. Third would be the frequency/looseness issue unless I'm really flaring badly.

The biggest problem I have is everyday D for 4 years now. I can't plan anything at all, not even the next day. I feel bad because my kids will ask if we can do something and all I can tell them is we have to see how I will feel :-(. Sometimes just to get out I will take imodium and won't eat till I get home but that makes it worse for me the next day. My 2nd biggest problem is my fear of medication and side effects :-(

My biggest issue is not having as many choices due to fatigue and Crohn's Disease. Unable to go to school for degree due to Crohn's & the fatigue. I would love to get a degree in Cultural Anthropology, but I was unable to tolerate going to school part time and working full time. I need to work full time for the health insurance. So, I feel stuck sometimes due to this disease.

FATIGUE! I can't hardly clean my house take care of kids and work full time. Along with Fatigue, my short term memory is shot which makes work hard.

I would say my number one issue is FATIGUE!! I sleep 7-8 hours a night, but still sleep at least 1-2 hours after I get home from work everyday. I call that my nap before I go to bed:)

My biggest issue is have Crohn's along with Diabetes. Makes it really difficult to eat.

I HAVE to eat to control my diabetes, and that makes me sick.

That I cannot control a bowel movement that's on it's way out and I don't even have D, but when a bowel movement is on it's way there is no stopping it...frequecny sucks too, both of those interfere greatly with everyday life.

The unpredictability of the disease itself. You never know what's gonna happen tomorrow. But, hey, you may have an accident tomorrow and die. That's how I see it. Although, it was bloody hard when went to France on holiday this year and I couldn't eat anything because I was flaring. I enjoyed the sea though. :-)

Fatigue is also my biggest issue. I force myself to get up, go to work, clean the house, cook dinner, run errands but I know that if it was at all possible, I could spend the day in my pajamas, lounging around the house.

I envy people who don't have to work! I know some can't, so please don't take that wrong, but I wish I was able to join you.

I agree with everyone on the fatigue.  Hate feeling like I'm lazy or something...but I'm just so worn out all the time!

I have a tie: Fatigue and pain. Fatigue because I can't seem to get anything done all day (house is a mess), and if we happen to go out somewhere by the time we're back home I'm completely exhausted and have to lay down for the rest of the day. Pain because my belly is always hurting, most of the time it's a dull ache, but there's the spasms which make it really bad and if anyone touches or presses it, ouch, then of course the cramping before D. The D itself doesn't bother me too much, I'm used to it I guess. After 2 years of it, well, it's my normal. I don't even remember having a regular bm anymore.

Eating!

Slowly, bit by inexorable bit, it's turned into a minefield. I never thought that would happen to me, that I would always be able to eat how I've always eaten. I've had Crohn's for 10 years, so it's not like I am new to it, but it started out so slowly and mildly I had years of being almost symptomless apart from diarrhoea 2-3x a day.

If it isn't eating, then it's depression. Digesting food and depression seem to be closely linked in my case. I have always had a melancholy nature, even pre-Crohn's, but something about having malfunctioning bowels just seems to directly make depression worse.

my no 1 problem is faitigue and the regular chills and hot flushes i have.Currently have the heating blazing plus sat with my flannel pjs, fluffy dressing gown plus fleece blanket round my shoulders. My teeth are chattering. Theres no explanation just 'its probably the crohn's' and i'm def not running a fever as i'm able to think and i never can with a fever!

I'm the same as sweetnakira, I never know when the big D is going to hit so have to take each day as it comes and it is so hard to plan anything.Even work is worrying as I never know whats going to happen that day,although I do have quite a good manager and she is aware of all my problems,but it still can be hard.
The amount of times I have had to turn my kids down, when they want to do something, or even just wanted to go shopping and I was too scared to leave the house is very frustrating but they just have to understand, although some times I know it is very disappointing for both parties!

I try not to think about it to much but, mine is fear of a  flare up which results in having an ostomy, really don't want to end up going down that route again. Bev x
