I am going to be starting on Humira and wondered if any one in the Uk is on it.
I see that alot of Americans have to pay for it. Anybody know if it is chargeable on the NHS or not?

I just started it today but I am in Canada... I have to pay for 20% and then submit that 20% for reimbursement through a local government plan. Let us know how your experience unfolds and hopefully someone on here will have some UK info for you.

I'm not on it. I don't think my hospital offers it, but am not 100% certain on that.
I'm just bumping up your thread really; can't help in any other way :-/

I know that it is not a cheap drug and I know a guy here with crohns that went on to an iv medication, but cant remember if that was infliximab, He did have to pay some for that, worked out to about
£1000 for the course, but not sure about
the Humira.

Ypur locval PCT pays for it so its PCT dependant. Most do cover it though. Healthcare at home pharmacy will deliver to you every 8 weeks. Be careful about
changing address with them though, twice my humira ended up at my old address instead of my new one.

Bev, I am not sure excatly when I am starting on it yet, I have the x-rays and blood tests on thursday, then i presume wont be long after that , that they start me on it, the gastro nurse specialist said she would make an app for me for next week.
I presume you had to so the same before starting on the Humira?

Just wanted to know how you got on with the Humira that you were due to start n wednesday?
I have done all the blood tests and everything now, just waiting for my appointment with the gastro nurse specialist, which i presume will be next week some time.
