I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 8 yr. ago and was treated with Pentasa, which I'm still taking ongoing.  When I had my daughter 3 yr later I had a flare up and needed to go on steroids.  Thankfully that worked and i didn't have any problems till about now, 5 yr later.  I'm currently in active disease stage and Pentasa isn't working.  I have been prescribed Entocort 3mg, 3 caps a day in the morning but I am not getting overly better, maybe just a bit.

I have been very lucky so far.  I'm 33 yr. old and want to have another child.  I'm on hold with that one for a while.  I feel like i'm going through it all over again.  I'm testing all the foods that I was fine eating before and now it causing problems.  Anyhow, stress is really big problem in this disease and I am learning to stay positive:)

thanks for the welcome. I have been told by my dr about the choice of Humira, Remicade and I have researched both. I am not so sure which med is better. I guess, I'm going to see if entocort can help me. My dr said that if I'm flared up and get pregnant it could get better or worst. Well, waiting couple of months won't hurt. I already have 2 kids.
Did any of you get pregnant while your crohn's was active? And if so, how was the pregnancy?

It can take up to 8 weeks for Entocort to induce remission. Have you checked out the SCD diet? www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info

 

Thanks for the tip.  I will definitely check out SCD diet.  As for the question about when I had my daughter my crohn's was in remission until I gave birth.  I went into labour two weeks earlier and laboured for 12 hours with drugs.  I developed a fever all through it all and ended up having C-section.  So, yes I had a flare up after wards.  They pumped me up with all kinds of pain drugs, which didn't help.  However, my son on the other hand was born about 3 yr later by C-section only and I had no problem with crohn's what's so ever.
