So ive just been laying in bed all day because I've been cramping or in the bathroom. I noticed one thing though; mild heartburn..luckily I have prescription grade ranitidine in the house because one of my siblings has GERD. But Ive just started noticing this. Anyone else have this issue?! Not in the mood for an endoscopy :(

EDIT: my mom thinks I should take pentasa 1gram right NOW...I don't think thats a good idea tho..

I don't think that taking Pentasa right now would relieve your immediate symptoms. ?? I'm no expert but, isn't that given as a maintenance drug? How about an Immodium?

I'm newly diagnosed and on Entocort and Pentasa and I'd be curious as to what the more 'expert Crohnies' say.

Pentasa is a maintenance drug and won't immediatelly help symptoms. For mild heartburn, I'd try a Pepcid AC or Prilosec. Both can be obtained over the counter. If you have heartburn every day for over a week, you might want to call the doc

Did your heartburn just start today? You said you have been lying in bed all day, did you eat and/or drink while lying down? I know that if I lie down too soon after eating or drinking, I will get a mild heartburn. The ranitidine is your best bet for now. I also second gumby and say if this continues for a week, call your Dr. Heartburn can also be one of the many symptoms of crohn's.

No I did not eat in bed but the heartburn did get worse when laying down...I have a dermatologist appointment and it's in the same building as my GI doctor so I called my GI as well..his PA said he would check. I've also developed some pretty bad joint pain which isn't surprising all my DRs warned me. I've just developed some uncomfortable and painful symptoms this weekend :(

Many folks including myself suffer with GERD or reflux, its part of Crohns. I take Protonix myself. But it does sound as if you are flaring and I think its wise you get in and see the doc. Hugs!

So I saw my GI Doctor today and told him about my knee pain as well as my discomfort gut wise at times. He said I should try Bentyl...now last time i tried this I didn't poop for a few days and ended up in the ER from severe pain as well as a high fever...still he insisted I try the Bentyl. Also I told him about my newest medications and he nearly crap kittens (focalin and Ativan) no pun intended. He also acted as if I abused drugs chronically when he said "you can't take MAOIs, or smoke weed"...***...no crap I can't take MAOIs hardly worth mentioning and it was like the third reference to marijuana he made in the 10 mins I was there, he wasn't joking the guy is smart but dry as toast. I know for fact that marijuana/THC has little to no interactions with my medication but he had to bring it up...?..ive never even smoked before either. Anyways I'm seeing my primary care doc tomorrow and even though she knows as much about crohns as wikipedia I'm seriously going to ask her if I have drug seeking behavior or if I look like I'm on drugs or something....
