Unfortunately with both my pregnancies it has been difficult. The Remicade definitely helped in some ways with my second pregnancy, but it also had some really bad things come along with it :( By the end I could barely go to the bathroom and was throwing up the last couple days of the pregnancy before birth. I would have rather had the diarhea thats for sure. The one thing Remicade helped while I was pregnant was that I gained 30 lbs compared to 11 with the first pregnancy. I was able to eat a wider range of food which was nice. When I found out I was pregnant I had heard that many people go into remission while prego. I was looking forward to that, but unfortunately that didnt happen in my case. I became more ill.
I know how it is when you are on your last options for drugs :( I tried Humira and it worked for 2 weeks then abruptly stopped. So the doc told me that remicade was my last option before surgery. Which I am sorely refusing. I have worn him down to taking LDN. Just a matter of waiting now till im done breastfeeding. Supposedly you cant take LDN while breastfeeding.
The one thing my regular doctor says with my condition is that in the past 10 yrs since I have been diagnosed, my case is the most resistant than any she has ever seen. I will try a drug and it will wear off very quickly. It kind of scares me because I dont want to have surgery. I have been avoiding talking about surgery because I dont want to know what would happen. So I sucked it up my last visit and got the details of what he thinks might happen. He pretty much told me they would have to take out my whole colon and I would most likely be left with a bag for the rest of my life. That scares the crud out of me. :(
I hope that your flare gets under control and I hope someone may have a similar story to me cause I am so confused to why Remicade started to work again. I have been puzzled the last couple of weeks
:( i just hate not knowing lol.
