eye sight and Crohns??

I'm not sure this helps much, but I had to get glasses 3 or 4 months ago.  I had better than 20/20 until this past year.  I thought sure it was the DD or meds effecting my eyes.  My GI said possibly, go see an eye doc.  My eye doc said "almost 44, you're late! You should have been here 3 years ago."  If it is ok to ask, what is your age?

I know it can effect your eyes, just as mine is causing me hip problems and bone density issues.  Let the eye doctor make THAT final determination.

I'm also 25 and got glasses when I was 21 before being diagnosed with Crohn's. My eye site isn't that bad but it has gotten a lot worse since having Crohn's Disease. I was on Prednisone and I think that messed it up a lot. I do need to get my eyes checked because sometimes I do get double vision as well or just wicked blurry even with glasses on. I had them checked before being on Prednisone last October and it didn't change from the two years before. My insurance only allows a check every 24 months so I shouldn't get them checked again until Oct 2012. I feel my RX has changed a lot and want to get them checked for other stuff because of being on Prednisone and since it got worse. So I think I may just pay out of pocket for an eye exam to see how they are and if I need a new RX.

Teacher3 sorry you deal with double vision that often. I don't deal with double vision almost every other day like you and it drives me nuts so I can't imagine what you are dealing with.

I'm having problems with my eyes as well.  Sounds very similar to what you're experiencing - blurry vison that just pops up every now and then, then goes away just as suddenly.  My double vision comes mostly after I've been reading or using the computer very long.  My eye doc doesn't know if it is the crohns or just from being on the computer so much at work.  But I see him regularly now due to my glaucoma.  From what I've read (forgot to ask the eye doc last time) crohns can cause glaucoma.  It often runs in families too but no one in my family has ever had it.  My eyes have been sensitive to light for years.  I have glasses that transition now when in the sun.  Really helps.

My eyesight changed a lot in the last few years...so much of a change that they said it is very rare at my age.  Eye dr. said it was from the prednisone.  Also said the prednisone causes dry eyes, which is what causes the blurriness.

My money's on pred and high blood pressure. Goin thru similar thing right now.

Thanks for all the responses. I went today and luckily do not have Uveitis yet! Though, withing 3 months my vision has gotten increasingly worse. Which was scary. Though, my doc gave me a lot of information and was very supportive. She said the double vision is from inflimation and gave me eye drops for it. She did not prescribe steroids yet. The steroids will work and help but she interestingly said it will make the symptoms go away but can cause the problems to come back more often.
Now I have to have my eyes checked every 2 weeks for a couple months.
My list of doctors keeps growing :)

It is just scary when I start thinking about my eye sight and the problems that it can cause.
