Can u believe it????  I've had a pouch since 1982 and my last annual pouchscopy showed ulcerations in the terminal iluem.  That would not happen if I were a true UC patient.  This news follows an escapade with my bartholin's gland having been drained for an abcess.  Now, right on the scar left from the marsupial opening the gyne. formed on my inner labia to drain the abces, there is a tiny hole that is draining puss on and off.  Is that a fistula???  I'm scheduled for an MRI, but can't stop thinkiing about the little draining hole, and whether I now truly belong to your CD board and I don't feel like sex at all...  Does anyone have a similar story - is that little hole a fistula????  Can I have sex????  I'm 48, married and a mother to two - my son, whom I carried to term, and my daughter who was carrtied to term by an angel surrogate.

Yes, unfortunately UC can morph into Crohn's for unknown reasons...maybe it's just the progression of the disease, who knows.

Sorry to hear of your fistula issues...yes, it does sound like one. I have heard of the bartholin gland being problematic for some Crohn's patients. I don't think it's a matter of can you but more of a matter do you want to...my fistulas were perianal and I never wanted to:(

When is your MRI? Your doctors will know more once they have that to look at. Remicade is very good at closing fistulas as well as some other meds out there so try not to worry until you have the facts. Easier said than done, I know:(

I've had Crohns for 10years now and have been on no meds. This is the 2nd Gastro-Dock I've been to and my last scope in October of this year showed 5-6 Fistulas and a Stricture in my small bowel. He did not suggest surgery, but the drug Humiria. He sent me home with a big packet of stuff and a video to watch and there is alot of serious side effects. I do now have pre-existing liver conditions as of 2007, but so far this past year they have been within normal range which is good, I just don't know if I should be taking this drug. Do you have any ideas? As for your Fistula, they say Remicade is one of the drugs they use, but I never did take it because of the side effects. I do take acidphilous and was taking a probotic plus I take liquid Calicium. It does sound like a Fistula, and I don't know that I would recommend Remicade because of the side effects, but I know of people that have done very well on it. It just was not for me!! Thank you so much for your replies, I'd have perferred something along the lines of: no, that doesn't sound like a fistula, or: no way you have CD...  ;)

However, my past has caught up with me, and now it feels like I'm moving into a new phase of ill health after having had 30 years of ups and downs with the pouch, but at least the ill health has, up till now, been contained.

I hope my family doesn't suffer too much, as for me, it seems it is my fate.
