I developed psoriatic arthritis from Remicade (they think). Remicade was also my miracle drug. In 2005 I nearly died from starvation, malnourishment, and almost a perforated colon. They wanted to do a colostomy bag when I was admitted into the hospital via the ER. I went to a hospital where my regular GI was and they started Remicade immediately within 2 weeks I was able to go home. From near death to wanting me to have a colostomy bag to going home in 2 weeks, yes Remicade was my miracle drug. However last year my skin got so bad my legs swelled up and I had ulcers all over the skin. Also my joints started to hurt, ankles and fingers mostly. So they took me off Remicade in January and started Methotrexate. They want me on Humira but since Remicade you get "admitted" into the hospital my insurance pays. Since Humira would be a mail order prescription they want me to pay an arm and a (swollen) leg for it. So needless to say I've been w/o drug for about a year and I am starting to flare. So my suggestion would be to research your options if finances are something you need to cosider. I am waiting to go on Humira so I can't say if it'll work better. However, my Doctor has said that sometimes we build up an immunity to drugs we've been on for awhile. Maybe that's what's happening with you as well. Also ask if while you are waiting if he or your PCP can give you a script for pain meds. Thank God my PCP has, I would not have been able to work 2 jobs and complete my degree as well as going to different Drs each week. I hope some of what I said helps, sorry I couldn't give you a definite answer but just wanted to lend my support that I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Good luck to you & keep us updated!
