Remicade vs. Humira vs. Cimzia???

Ok I am currently on Imuran which worked for a little while, having some problems now. My GI wanted me to go on one of the above listed injectibles instead of the Imuran because she says it will help my joint pain as well, which can be pretty disrupting when my 4 and 6 year olds want mommy to play with them. I am looking at switching to one of them now and I believe that the Remicade is going to cost an impossible amount out of pocket to even be an option. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on which of these 3 is better....they all look the same to me and my GI doesn't really seem to lean towards any more than the other. I am also intered to see if anyone has been on any of them while they were pregnant and was everything ok with the pregnancy...as my husband and I have been wondering if another child would even be ok to think about or if the risk would be to high on one of these meds?

I was on remicade for 6+ years. Worked WONDERS for me and at the time it was the ONLY biologic available. I got pregnant with 3 babies and breastfed two babies while on it. Breastfed #3 on Humira because I switched during the pregnancy (But conceived on Remicade). Was on Humira for 2 & 1/2 years - stopped it because it caused me to get BAD psoriasis. I'm just now starting Cimzia and I'm planning on one more baby. All 3 meds are considered pregnancy category B. The studies/Literature says remicade crosses the placenta somewhere between 30-32 weeks in the pregnancy, don't know about humira, and Cimzia does NOT cross the placenta at all.

I hated Humira because the medicine burns so badly when you get the shot. Loved Remicade, haven't started Cimzia yet. I have 3 small kids so I guess if I were looking at the convenience factor I'd go with Cimzia. But Remicade worked miracles for me, so I'm really partial to that too. I just wish it hadn't worn off - 6 years is a pretty good run though since nothing lasts forever with biologics.

By the way all 3 of my children (6, 4, & 2) have been born healthy with no problems whatsoever. If you have any other questions about being pregnant on the meds I'm happy to help!

I was on Remicade for 6 mo. and developed antibodies from the mouse protein used in it. Infusion every 8 wks in the doctors office, about 3hrs. They charged 10K, but I don't think the insurance paid but about 6500 to 7500. Went on high does of steroids for 6 mo to calm down the pain from the antibodies, then went on Humira. Starting now to some fungal infections, cuticle infections and psoriasis. Joint pain in feet, ankles, knees wrists, lower back. I get a rash around the injection site that goes away in 2 to 4 days. Then I get a Rash somewhere else on my body. usually over a joint, with swelling and pain, then the skin peels off. I have a cream for the fungal infections, I also us it on the psoriasis spots and take percocets for the pain. I deal with it the best that I can.
There is a program for the Humira. I pay 5 for the script that costs I think around 16-1700 every 4wks.
I guess it's what works for you and fits your pocket book. I'm now retired and all the copays for 21 med are draining the pocketbook on a fixed income.
