For the last two days I have had an irritated throat - I wouldn't really describe it as a "sore" throat but more like feeling a slightly burning irritated throat and my voice is sounding funny. When I look in my throat my tonsils are fine and normal size but the back of my throat looks like some irritation with a couple white spots. It is staying about the same and not turning into a cold or anything. Is it possible it is the crohns? Has anyone had it in their throat and what does it feel like?

I haven't had it that far up myself, but when I was diagnosed I did a fair amount of reading, and it's certainly possible that this is Crohn's. You should see your doctor about it as soon as possible.

Yes it is possible to have crohn's in your throat but I'd be more inclined to say it's reflux. That's how my throat feels when my GERD is out of control. You might want to try some OTC med like prilosec and see if it helps.

I have cd in throat and I get cankers, when really bad pred is the only thing that flares down, rem now and it has helped

I get stuff in my throat fairly frequently that feels like that, the last few days it's been enough that drinking hurts. I also have GERD so it's a little hard to tell at times if it's the CD or GERD acting up. I take omeprazole dr to help with that, but doesn't take everything away. If it continues and you're not having other symptoms of a cold, I would probably call and let your dr know.

yes you could...they diagnosed me with Barretts Disease and it is from crohns and acid reflex....can be serious you need to get it checked immediately...

Sounds exactly like what I have. I notice it a few weeks before my Remicade infusion is due, which I'm actually getting infused at the moment so my mouth and throat are all erupted. I get sores on the inside of my cheeks, on the side of my tongue and down my throat. Looks like big, reddish-colored pustules, disgusting really. Although a few times I've had thrush so you may want to rule that out with the doc.
Sores in my mouth, tongue and throat have just become part of my lovely experience with this disease.

jenn, that is almost exactly what I get, mine goes down esoph. But I have had treouble choking on food, meat and chicken, i evan had er endoscopy at 6 pm on a sunday with peice of hamburger stuck, but what was bad it wasn't very big, but I started to vomit while this meat was stuck, it was on way to endocopy room, but you can choke to death on vomit, so I was petrified, since my last infusion, wwhich gi doubled, no problem at all swallowing, or cankers, at little burning down in my esoph. yesterday and today, cam't drink anything hot, like you know nice hot coffee, frustrating.

wow, this is scarey. just a few days ago i sad a 'sore" throat but it was moer of sores and sich.   looked in mirror with flash light and saw lots of sores in back of throat with irritation.  had that for a few days.  I am 2 weeks out from next remicade treatment.  also, noticed a few pains in belly the past few days.

artist guy-my throat gets swollen and mucous-y from constant sinus drainage in addition to Crohn's sores; my epiglottis gets stuck in the open position due to the mucous and sometimes fails to close when I need to swallow and I end up coughing or throwing up what I just swallowed. It's been happening a lot recently with taking my pills in the AM, used to just take the whole handful in one gulp; now a few get stuck or tries to go down my windpipe and I throw up. It sucks, just another lovely thing to deal with with this IBD.

yea, you have to be careful about swallowing pills, I had a pain med stick in my throat the other day, wow they taste rank. rem has helped alot with my throat and esoph. it is an enormous relief to be able to swallow without fear of choking, all it did was increase my anxiety to near panic attacks when i get food stuck, sad thing the last piece of meat that got stuck was really pretty small, about thumbnail size. that small got stuck that bad. I eliminate foods that I feel would get stuck, I don't trust it. here is the thing with the throat and cd, with stomach they can always operate(resection), they can't take out a section of our throat. you know what i mean no crutch to fall back on, just med's(scarry) try nettie pot for sinus, works good

I've had both reflux and CD of the esophagus. Reflux, for me, was a burning, sore throat feeling; whereas, CD was extremely painful, like I had blisters in my throat (actually CD sores). It's hard to tell which you have unless you have an endoscopy. As stated above, it could also be sinus drainage.
