Well i go for my second infusion of remicade tomorrow, (woo hoo heres to more searching of veins,,lol)

How will i know if i am feeling normal again?

Its been so long since i've felt good. there isn't a day that goes by and something is wrong. Gut pain,  butt pain,the big D. or the bigger C.  And i swear on all thats holy, if one more person tells me, well you look fine, i will ***** slap them into timbucktoo!

So what is Normal for you?

Well I am in remission right now, and I will tell you life is still not perfect, but it is much better. I still have alot of joint pain daily, and if I eat something wrong I will still have a few rough days till it works its way thru me. Any stress can stir up problems too. But like I said things are better for me right now. I can eat more foods that I couldn't before, I have more good days than bad.

Well everyday is not perfect, it is much better than it was before. Hope that helps some.

I had the same trouble. Been with CD so long I had/have no idea what is normal. I think you should find your stools to be larger and firmer. They won't dissolve. You may not have to go straight to the toilet in the AM upon waking. Pain should diminish. Number or trips to the toilet through the day diminish. You can hold it, at least for a little while.

good lord i hope so...fingers crossed that the remicade starts to work this time around. not nearly as nervous to go this time...any ideas on how i can make my viens pop out more so the don't have to search for them??

Normal for me is as follows ; Having energy, 1 - 2 solid BM's a day, good appetite, and being able to socialise with my friends, as you can see from my signature I'm only 22 so when I feel like I'm back to normal or get into remission I make the most of it and hang out, party (not to hard anymore lol) and have fun.

I don't think any of us will ever know, nor can we remember what it actually feels like to be well and normal. I see healthy people do things to themselves just for the thrill of it, and I can't help but feel angry because I would give anything to feel "normal" and healthy again and pain free. And here they are, delving into things that take their "normal" away. I guess before Crohn's, I took my health for granted, too. Wish I could take it all back and have a do-over.

I'm not sure what normal is either. But, a nurse once said, "you know your better when you can plan a vacation and actually go on it!" I'm looking foward to that... I never been on a vaca!

To Takilra:
For your veins, drink fluids and heating pad helps..They were debating giving me a port. But, luckly this one nurse got accustomed to my veins! I'm sure it will get easier to find them.

I was having a similar conversation the other day. I am taking entocort as the pred was messing with my head.
My question was "What if I am so messed up from the entocort, that I am so far from normal, that I can no longer tell when I am not normal?". "I feel normal, but am I?" hmmmmm

Hi takira, for me remicade never did anything to help me feel good let alone so so normal.  Usually after I had the infusion, I'd feel like I had the worst cases of flu in my life.  I was really happy when I could stop taking it.  Do you know anyone who has just cd, and not other diseases to go along with it?  After the fact, I was finally told that cd can affect every other organ in my body.  It has with the exception of my kidneys.  Any wood to knock on?  Along the the cd, I have 21 other diseases and conditions that more than likely have been caused by cd.  So, I might be feeling normal if you are just talking about cd, but not at all with everything else.  Just out of curiousity, do you have a ostomy yet?  Hope you're having a good day today.  Gary

Feeling normal would be how I felt pre-Crohn's or in the first few years of it, when I had diarrhoea but still felt basically well in myself.

nope no ostomy for me yet. (fingers crossed) trying to drink lots of water today, and tomorrow morning( but not to much other wise i will have to go pee a million times durring the infusion..LOL ) They usually do throw a heating pad on me, but i think this time i will bring mine in the car and keep it on .

Thanks for asking that question Takilra.  I have been kinda wondering the same thing.  Although when I start to ponder out loud, some episode comes along and makes me quit thinking that way.  Almost like I am jinxing myself, but I just did my 4th last week and other than being really tired a few days.......fingers are crossed is all I will say, see jinx statement.

And Nanners, what you said about certain foods helps me a lot because I was wondering if I ever would be able to go back to some of my favs I lost.

I had a bit of ice cream last week with the wife, literally like 3 spoonfuls, and I swear I felt it moving through and it caused some (new to me) pain after about 10-15 minutes.  I was very disappointed.

Funny enough I'm ok with Vanilla flavoured Jersey Dairy but if I go el-cheapo I pay for it big time. :-)

i'vw tried soy ice cream and all i can say is YUCK!!!!
