Can anyone tell me about what a flare is like when you have Crohn's and an ostomy?

My daughter has an ileostomy for a little over a year now due to Indeterminate colitis. Recently she came off antibiotics and I noticed that she has some white blisters on her stoma. Her skin around the stoma is a little irritated but not too much, and her output is very watery. I wouldn't say it's D though, since I'm not emptying it more than usual.

Her doctors said it could be Crohn's or just a reaction to the antibiotics.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what they experience.

Was it a short course of antibiotics as they are known to cause D and upset the balance of bacteria in the bowel and when I take them the output from ileo is more watery and they give me stomach ache. Even when I have a flare I haven't had white blisters on stoma so don't know if this is a flare sign. Irritation around the stoma site can be caused by the watery output seeping under flange/wafer.

If it is reaction to the antibiotics then output should settle down pretty soon, in meantime ensure she is drinking enough fluids and if necessary those rehydrate sachets as without the colon, D can cause dehydration very quickly. You could try getting her to eat yoghurt with probiotics in them to rebalance the bacteria in gut, or those probiotic drinks.

she was on a 10 day antibiotic. She was also taking a probiotic while on the antibiotic. We are keeping up with the drinking. She was hospitalized plenty of times for dehydration so we know the drill. ; )
I'm just so concerned about those white spots. Her doctors aren't to concerned though since besides those spots she doesn't have any other symptoms of Crhons.

When you have a flare do you suffer extreme pain? My daughter was in a lot of pain when she was first diagnosed with UC/IC but only when she went to the bathroom. I was wondering with an ostomy do you still feel the same pain.

Yes, in flare I get the same pain as I had before I had stoma as it still effects same area of bowel, in my case the ileum that is left.
