Surgery went well. Things after, not so much. Too much to type on my phone so it will have to wait. Latest problem is that my recto-vag fistula has reared its ugly head. Spent most of last night having D through my vagina. Today I'm having a barium enium and then we will see what our next step is.

Glad the surgery went well, but sorry about the fistula problem. I hope and pray they'll fix that up ASAP.
I know it's rough, but just hang in there. You'll be good as new in just a few short weeks.
Stay on top of the pain with your pain meds.

Oh, and if you're having incontinence, you might want a diaper. It's what I did. ;-)

They say no fistula. Just one more lovely thing to add to this stay.

I woke up from surgery with an epidural for pain management but this one didn't take so I actually had NO pain management. It took them all day to give up on that option. It went downhill from there. Finally getting things under control and I hope to go home tomorrow.

(((Zanne))) Firstly sorry you had to go thru that horrible test, but glad no fistula found. I had a bad experience in my last resection with the epidural. They placed it too high to be effective, so I do understand that experience. Sending healing prayers your way that your recovery gets on the right path. Big hugs my CD twin.

My epidural didn't work well, either. I think it helped a little, but the pain was still searing. I was taking oxycontin around the clock, then T3s at home.

Zanne, get better. I'm surprised the pain meds aren't slowing down your bowel, that was one saving grace for me (in disguise)....the opiates left me so constipated there was no poop for days. I know you aren't supposed to wish for that, but it was such a relief to just lay there in bed with my foley catheter and my pca.

Waiting for my husband to come get me. Can't wait to get home. My pain level finally seems to be where I can handle it. Now I just need a shower and a really long nap followed by a nice dish of homemade chicken soup and a nice night of sleep in my own bed. Can you tell I've been thinking about this?

Thank you all for getting me through this. Its nice to have overs who have been there.

Zanne,

I have been thinking about you soooo much. I hope once you are home in your own bed, your recovery will go alot more smoothly. Take it easy and rest as needed. Hoping this leads to a long long remission. Oh when they went in, did they find you were a mess with adhesions? That is something I always worry about.

It amazes me how many epidurals fail. When I had one after op in 1999 panprccolorectomy, mine failed but it took them 5 days to believe me. They kept upping the dose higher and higher so the opiate in the syringe scrambled my brain but gave no pain relief.

I'm just glad they sorted yours out after one day Zanne, cause 5 days of no pain relief at all after my surgery left me having nightmares for months after I got home.

Good luck in your recovery and hope it goes smoothly from now on.
