  Just sayin hi, new to all this, been reading away at ur posts and finding them really helpful indeed, explains alot of stuff for me ,only newly diagnosed so didnt really have a proper understanding of it all or no what i am actually dealing with. Altho it wud be nice for us not to have it, its nice to have people to relate to about it.

 Started last sept but wus put down to a 'bug' or a 'viral infection'!!. Calmed down a bit but was ongoing to the dr's for many blood tests, so much pain finally they were referring me to a consultant 'by letter' in november, this could take up to 8weeks to be seen they tell me!! By jan still no appointment wi consultant, running to dr's they tell me be patient, and i am in absolute agony!!!! Next few weeks got worse, emergency appt with consultant, still in pain no food stayin down or in,lost a stone but then he tells me its gonne be another 4-6weeks before i can have the tests done, the nice one down ur throat and up the back passage, mite i add i have been at work all through this making it even harder. By the following week have to stop work couldnt do it anymore, went to a&e was sent home, then an emergency appt wi GP she finally sent me to hospital to be admitted,losing another 5pounds in less than a week. Was in for two weeks took over a week to find out, was the most horrible time ever!!!!

 Sori i didnt mean to rant on ther i got carried away, but hey thats my story!!

Well hi Pinkstar, I think we have other members from Ireland here.
Getting a firm diagnosis is always the hard part. I think must of us went through the wringer trying
to get doctors to listen. I'm sorry you've a rough couple of months. Hopefully things will start to level
out a little for you!!

Yeah its good to finally get the diagnosis at last and start getting on the mend.
Finding these steriods really hard to take, i feel like another person in a different body!!! My arms and legs are weak and i have the shakes, palpatations, like a nervous wreck, nausea, and the no sleeping isnt good either!! Any 1 else had this effect? Also started taking panic attacks but not sure if that the meds or what. Still getting alot of pains but this will just take time, right? Also suprised to find that ive lost another 9lbs in the 2weeks i've been out hospital altho i'm eating alot better and keeping everything down.....listen to me rambling on already!!! Am so sorry that some of u guys have been much worse off than this and been thru so much more like No.6 says, really feel for u all, u deserve a medal xx

Pinkstar, prednisone is a drug that can cause a lot of side effects. When my hubby is on steroids, he complains about elevated heartrate, feeling massively irritable, agitation, lots of acne, and a moon face (like all puffy), and not being able to sleep at night. If you are prone to panic attacks, I think prednisone definitely can make it harder to control.

The nausea however, is not a side effect that my husband has had with prednisone, and I've never heard of prednisone causing nausea, though. Hopefully the pain and the nausea will go away soon as the pred works its magic and you start to heal. I do suggest not tapering off the pred before you get your symptoms under control (so talk to your doc before you start tapering).

Here's what my hubby does when he's on pred, to control some of the side effects from pred. He takes his pred in the morning. At night, in order to get more sleep, he takes benedryl to help him. In order to control the agitation that the pred causes, he meditates in the morning and at night before hitting the bed. He says it helps center his mind, and brings focus to help him keep a better attitude and outlook through the day. The acne, and the moonface we don't know what to do about - he just deals with it, and once he's off the pred, it goes away.

Hi seriously. Yeah i agree with you what a long road it is to get to were we are now!!! I am glad you have got ur diagnosis as well to start getting things under control. I to am eating better which is great but still feelin very nausuis (cant spell that!) tho i am still sticking to a low res diet, and drinkin ensures to build me up again, out of interest, have u been sticking to a diet as well or tried introducing any new foods yet? I am a bit scared to lol I am glad u mentioned that ur sleeping is getting better, i am at 35mg pred this wk so hopefully it will get better. This site has been great, once u've been diaganosed i found that u were just thrown in at the deep end and not really told much about it so i've found it a great help.
