Hi there i didnt know where to put this so seacrhed boil's and it seemed most people used this group.

It's just a query really i have had many boil's in my time but this boil i have just above my pubic area is really raised and very painful... Is it normal for me to get shooting pain's in to my stomach from the infected area that are hurting quite badly ? Because at the moment this is what is happening.

I also have one in the inside of my leg which is quite big i went to the doc's and was given some antibiotic's to clear it up called flucloxacillin... I was just wondering if it's normal to get bad pain from the infected area as the one inside my leg is giving next to no pain at all.

you better believe those boils are really painful. don't evan think about squeezing. Soak and then when they seem like the core will come out you have to pull at it. Evan if you have to start it with a prick of a pin. then pull at each side. But if it's ready, when you soak it good, you will barley have to pull it and it should start to drain. I use to get them alot. I used this stuff called boil ease, it is black. I would put it on large bandage that would cover boil, this will help it come to head. until they drain, they throb.

I probably wouldn't mess with them to much. I think if you keep messing with them the infection could get worse. I think I agree with AG that you should try soaking them in as hot as water as you can stand. That will help to bring it to a head. Good luck!

I had a bunch of them when I was in my teens, so I can absolutely tell you what to do: You soak them and soak them and soak them in hot water; you can do other things (like watch tv) at the same time, so it isn't a big burden on your time. When it gets ready to pop, you'll know it--it will look like a small volcano with a white head that seems ready to burst. Rather than pick at it, press down on each side of the boil, to put pressure on the head. The head will burst. As you continue to press, thick pus will come out, sometimes marbled with blood. Wipe up the stuff with a damp washcloth or tissue, and keep pressing and squeezing, slightly, until nothing else will come out. Then wash off the area with soap and water and let it heal. Usually it won't even leave a scar. Although boils are painful, I came to kind of appreciate them at the time--the process made sense, and they were kind of beautiful when they burst. I know that's weird, but that's how it was.

Thanks for all the replys, whats the worst case secanrio from trying to squeeze it cause i think thats whats made it even worse and causing the pain to radiate all over the area.

Thinking thru the process it would seem that squeezing an unready boil would force the contents down deeper and wider to the sides not being squeezed if there is less resistance than having to break thru the skin which is usually the case until it "comes to a head".

Make's sense hence this boil making alot of pain :(...

I think next time if i get one i'll be more careful however the antibiotic's seem to be sorta clearing it up been on them for 2 days now, still pain is there which is driving me crazy!...

My advice: get onto the internet (sites like webmd.com) and read about boils and how to treat them. Antibiotics are recommended when a boil gets to the stage that yours appears to be at. They should help a lot--but it may take a few days. It may also be wise to keep soaking the boil in hot water, using a washcloth as a compress--and you can put antibiotic ointment on the boil, too, as it heals. If the boil doesn't heal and if you start getting fever, red streaks radiating from it, etc., go see a doctor right away.

We're not doctors on this site, although we have good advice. Mine is to read up on the situation and call your doctor if it doesn't get better.

the dr will give you anti's, if it is red and swollen after you have squeezed, without anti's you could get blood poision.

Sorry to keep this thread alive but i am guessing it is not normal to have blood inside the boil as it has bruise like blotches it did bleed the other night when i squeezed it but only blood was released no badness.

Are you sure its a boil and not some kind of abcess? I think you might want to bring this to your doctors attention. Good luck!

hey trev, it will bleed if you squeeze to much, blood won't poor out, but it will make blood go to surface, if it's dripping blood,get to er. The main thing if you do get the junk out, you will have to pull the green cord out, I've had to use tweezers to get that final core. Then it will clear right up.

Well i think the bleeding under the skin could have something to do with trying to pop it with a needle (which i should have mentioned in the original post)? Still hurts quite bad been on meds since monday.

Trev, not to often do I get chills running down my back, but that last post got me bro. yikes!! I think you might have to go to ER,JMHO. For about 8-9 months, I had boils, they would all come on my bum, near end of spine, or right next to butt h---. I would get 1 maybe two at a time. I would look at them with mirror. soak like crazy, and then look at them with mirror, when they would be ready to open, the skin that covers the boil, would get really thin, so the more I would soak, I new, get the mirror and pull away from the head, and they would open,and drain onto the mirror,but alot of pus, then my girlfriend (wife now) would get tweezers and get that green core out. I didn't know why I got them, the dr's didn't know why.Probably some sort of staff, but I really think it was cd related, I was in remission before the boils started, and had this giant cramping flare at the same time I started to get boils.  good luck

Well i am at the doc's tomorrow doing a blood test for glucose to see if they can find why i am getting them, so atm i am on a 12 hr fast... Guess i could let the nurse look at it in the morning to see if it's getting better.

No red streak's running from it and i am feeling fine apart from the pain of the boil... So hopefully i am find but best get it reseen it guess.

Edit-: Yeah it was a stupid move trying to burst the boil it looked pretty ripe boy was i wrong rolleyes
