Initial Colonoscopy results in. Pls. help interpreting!!

Had my colonoscopy this afternoon. Not nearly as bad as I expected. The doctor found  "nonspecific inflammation in the distal sigmoid." He also inflammation in the proximal rectum. He took multiple biopsies, but those won't be back for a couple of weeks. What does this mean? Does it means that it's definitely either Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis? IBS doesn't cause inflammation, does it?

No IBS will not cause inflammation. No one but the doctor can tell you what it is you have. It could be Crohns Colitis which is Crohns in the colon or it could be UC. You will know more when the biopsies come back.

Correct, the I in IBS is not for inflammation. You can say IBD - inflammatory bowel disease - for now if you want, but there is more to come. Wait for the biopsies. In the meantime, has your DR prescribed any medical treatment for the inflammation he found?

No, not yet. A different doctor did my colonoscopy from my GI. I don't know if he's just waiting for the results of the biopsy, or what. I see my GI next Thursday, so hopefully the biopsy will be done by then, and I'll have more answers.

I know it might sound crazy to people, but I'm happy the doc found something on my colonscopy. At least my symptoms aren't all in my head, like I was starting to think.

Believe me you're not crazy for being happy they found something!! Most of us has had it's 'all in the head'
feeling. It actually is a comfort to know what you're dealing with. Good luck.

Forgot to add, I did see a pic of the inflammation area and it was blood red, and very angry looking. The "normal" parts of my colon were a rather pretty pepto bismol shade of pink.
