So I got two setons inserted for Fistulas 8 days ago and the pain they are causing is stopping me from doing anything. I'm constantly housebound because after 10-15 mins of walking, add to the fact they have me walking funny, it becomes to uncomfortable. A couple of people have said that it shouldn't be as painful as I'm making it out to be.

I'm seriously considering going to the hospital tomorrow and asking them to take them out. I'm quite an active person and every day and night I'd go on long walks listening to my Ipod and seeing as the weather here in Ireland has become nice and mild I always looked forward to it.

Now with these setons in all I do is lay around, watching TV and surfing the web and it's driving me nuts. Prior to having the setons inserted I was having NO problems at all.

Also my next EUA isn't until May 10th and I can't wait that long if the pain isn't going to subside to the point were I can go on my walks again and go out with my buddies on the weekend.

So what would you do? Would you wait for a few more days and see if it calms down? Or would you just say F it and go to the hospital? I seriously can't stay stuck in doing nothing it's driving me nuts. @_@

I would go to the hospital just to rule out that there is nothing major going on like an infection. I had a drainage tube put in for my abscess (next to rectum) and it caused so much pain and it became infected so I went back to the hospital and they took it out and did some more cleaning out surgically and I've been painfree since, and that back in feb. I suffered with the abscess and slight pain since september. I only had the drain in for two weeks but the pain was just intolerable.

I wish you luck and I hope you get some relief soon because I totally understand the discomfort and getting annoyed with not being able to do anything.

I would make sure nothing is going on, to cause that discomfort. good lluck walrus. and I can't help it, coo coo cajoo.

Thanks for the advice, guys. One more question, the reason I don't think it's infection is because it only hurts when I move when I sit down or lay down it's generally OK.

So my question is, can infection take place even so?

Here's what was always my problem...when the knots moved inside it hurt really bad shocked As long as I kept the knots outside I was ok.

Since you are in the early stages, have you been taking any pain meds? I know I was always out of commission for at least a week when I had anything done to them.

Yeah, I take Tylex,Tylenol in the States, when needed. Right now they're not really bothering but I know tomorrow when I wake up (It's 11:30 PM here) it will be sore for most of the day. Hopefully it will subside because I really don't wanna sit up in the hospital tomorrow for hours on end only to be sent home with more pain meds lol.

I doubt they would take them out also.
