I know personally that I had to try multiple brands before I found the two that work for me. I had given up on all probiotics because they really made me much worse, and I gave them all at least 3 weeks, before giving up. So I think its a totally individual thing, where you need to find the one that works for you.
Also, my GI told me that your body can get used to the probiotic that you are taking and it becomes ineffective. That is why I had to find a second brand that worked for me. A switch for a month or two is all that is needed to get things back in line. For me I will take one for a while, if I find that it isn't working as well, I will add the other one in at another time of day for a month or so, if that still doesn't work then I take the original one out of the mix and take the second one in the morning and at night for a few weeks. Then repeat this when things start to go awry again.
As far as probiotics not being good for us, since I always had trouble with them, that was my mind set. But so many GI's have recommended them to me, that I can't discount them any more.
Lastly, Roni, I can't feel the food moving through my anastamosis this time because things really aren't moving this time. But with each of my other resections, I could most definitely feel the food every time I ate for weeks after the surgery. However, if the pain is still at the same level that it was a few weeks ago and is not getting better, then you should be in touch with your surgeon or GI.
