Possible reaction to Cephalaxin or Keflex

Has anyone had to take Cephalaxin (Keflex) and had stomach cramping and vomiting from it with Crohns? My daughter has an infected toenail and the podiatrist prescribed this. I told him that she had Crohns but I am not sure if she is reacting to the antibiotic or just severely constipated. Her ileum has been sore for days and yesterday she threw up three times and had severe cramping all night. Just wondering if it could have been the antibiotic. I do see it is a rare side effect but wanted to see if anyone had similar experiences when taking this antibiotic. Thanks.

Keflex is the one antibiotic I can take that does not have side effects for me.

Sounds more like a possible obstruction to me. You might want to call her doc and discuss.

Is her pain coming in waves much like labor pains? Is she having problems moving air out of either direction? Feels the need to have a bm, but nothing comes out? Vomiting bile? If she is experiencing the above, I think it may be a obstruction and she should probably go to the ER. Better to be safe than sorry. Hugs!

Oh yesI have been on cephalex many times.. It's the number one thing they give me for a non crohns infection.

It's only ever given me slight nausea. If I had to guess I would say she just had a bad night and it was untwisted to the cephalex. If she had no hives and she wasn't having trouble breathing ,she could try again after eating. But if she had boosting hives shortness of breath etc it's more likely an allergy and I would tell the md and get something else prescribed .
Is she allergic to Penni or sulfa drugs or any other drug??

My daughter took Keflex twice in the past year for a persistent skin infection, and didn't have any trouble with it.
