Probability of getting another abscess/fistula

I'm curious, What's the probability of getting an abscess or fistula after having them drained or in the case of the fistula, having a fistulotomy? That's after starting medication like Remicade or Humira. I was just wondering what are the chances of them developing again despite the medication?

I think that once you get one you have a chance of getting others. My thought though is that Remicade and Humira are good meds to stop them. I hope they work for you! Hugs!

I think Remicade and Humira are good at closing them, but there's still a potential for them (or new ones) to come back....

My dr. told me I have a 70% chance of having a similar surgery (abscess drainage, seton bands) but I'm not currently on any biologic medicine, so I'm thinking she meant without going on one of those medicines. We are currently in the decision phase of whether to use cimzia for me.

I have been on remicade for 6 1/2 years, and I had abscesses/fistulas before starting, and have had a few since starting. But the fistulas that have developed since being on remicade clear/close up really fast and so far without incident.
