Perianal Abscess Removal: Healing time? Help :/

I had a perianal abscess, they drained it. And then a week later, decided just to remove it. Went in there, cleared the infection out, and cut deeper and laid it open a little. The dr didn't find a fistula...yet...(cross fingers)

It's been a week, and the site still has blood and weird things coming out.

1. Does this mean I have a fistula? or something bad?

2. How long will it take to stop dripping stuff?

3. How long til a full recovery where I can do stuff around there?

I have perianal abscesses, but they are being kept open with seton bands. Are yours being kept open to continue to drain by anything? Mine are connected to a fistula, so I think it's a completely different story. But I've had seton bands for over a month now and my abscesses are still continuing to drain. Are they still painful? Are you on antibiotics for the infection? Sorry, I think I'm not being too helpful... Haha, but I know what you're gong through!

I had an abscess drained back in september, cleaned out again the end of January and then again last week. Mine is located right next to my rectum, so it is a hard place to heal, especially now that is had made a hole through it, so now I BM coming out of both places. I've had drainage this whole time, but it has lessen. It is no where near the amount when it was first drained. It doesn't necessarily mean you have a fistula, you want the drainage to come out compared to it being stuck in there.
I can't offer you any advice on how long it will take for it to heal as it is all very individual. Some people deal it for years others heal right up. But that doesn't mean it will cause you problems constantly either.

Gosh, give it three to four weeks but take as many warm sitz baths as you can! This will help speed up the healing. Good they did not find a fistula, they really suck! And that's putting it mildly. Good luck

What is the site supposed to look like? It seems pretty deep (1inch?) and still stuff coming out like a picture of blood and other light stuff. When I look at it in the mirror, one side has a yellowish shiny tint, is this an infection or ok?

From what you describe it sounds normal.  Sitz Baths and get in the shower and let warm water flow over the area.  The yellow tint and all that sounds quite normal.

I had an abscess followed by two fistulas. The last surgery was a fistulectomy.. Kind of like what you had. It left a 3 inch long inch deep wound that healed in about 6 weeks. It drained all manner of colors and freaked me out a bit.. but the surgeon said that was normal. Honest I couldnt think that green would be normal.. but it did all heal up!

hi,im new on here.ive had an abcess for 8 months now,going on 9 month.its still leaking puss?is this a normal length of time to have had one?its the 1st one ive had and i dont know if this is normal or not.
i would really appreciate some advise.
