First Rem treatment today

and man am I excited. Big props to my GI who when he heard it would be a week before they could start me, pulled all his strings and turned that in to next day.

Step one: heal fistula. Step two: get second drain removed. Step three: At some point have a pain free day...forgot completely what that is like (yes I know it's likely months away).

Plan is to start me on 6mp after the third or fourth treatment. I know I should be concerned about the side effects, but I'm just not. This crap has absolutely wrecked my body anyway, just don't feel like I have anything to lose really.

Best of luck with it. I have been on Remicade for about 5 years now and doing great. It was given to me so that my fistula would heal and by the 3rd treatment it closed completely and has not returned since. I feel your pain with fistulas and know exactly what you are going through. :-)

Hi there and welcome to Remicade! My husband's doc put him on Remi in order to heal fistulas as well. That is actually his primary form of this DD. Remicade did wonders for for hubs and he has just celebrated his 3rd year on it! Best wishes for quick healing of those buggers!

RA, how long from the start was it before his fistulas healed?

I believe it was only a few treatments. He was on the once every 8 weeks regimen. I know it was NOT a long time at all, and we were pleasantly surprised.

Good luck! Hopefully you enjoy a long time on it! It did wonders for me with 6MP, unfortunately it doesn't work for me anymore. I hope it works very well for you and you enjoy years and years of remission!

Hi Another. I just finished my loading doses and viola! My fistula is gone. My fissure which was quite large has reduced by at least half and my d is gone. I love my infusion center and the people I have met there. I hope Remicade continues to work for me and for you too!

Great! Maybe I was supposed to go through all this to get to biologics faster then right?

I'm on pins and needles here but the hope runs deep. Just getting this flippen drain out will be a monumental day. It's in such a horrible place. I can only sit on non-cushioned chairs and only straight up. The kitchen chair in my living room looks pretty weird.
