I had a resection that went badly three years ago for a stricture. Nine months later when my gastro did a scope she couldn't get further than 25 cm where she could see staples. At that point point she referred me to a big city (Pittsburgh) gastro.
He did a CT that he said would tell whether or not he could do a dilation. His answer was that inflamation was in the muscle layer and the tissue would quickly snap back like a rubber band. If it had been in another layer he might have been able to tear the scar tissue with a dilation.
Meanwhile I'm getting by on 100 mg azathioprine, Colestipol 3x, and b12 once a month.
