What an interesting site! I read about Lyn's bout with PG as it relates to Crohns. What makes the lesions go away? I've been through several rounds of wound care. Nothing helps and the pain continues. I don't want to continue taking morphine. Crohns is under control but these lesions are not. What can I expect and how long will it take for them to go away? confused

  I have had a big wound for over  almost 4 years now.  They  have told me they dont expect it to close.  We continue to try new dressings and the thing ebbs and flows.   Its painful beyond belief, but no meds could touch my pain so I just do without.  

Where is yours located??  how many?  first time dealing with??

Hi csurbrze and welcome to Healingwell. Unfortunately Lyn has not been on the forums for a longtime. We do have a few other members with pg, so hopefully one of them will see this and reply soon. Hugs!

I think a member, Janicea, tried Manukkah honey and said it helped with PG. Perhaps she will notice your question.

Hey! Yes, I'm still using manuka honey mon-fri, with a vasaline gauze (just vasaline on a gauze, not that awful yellow pre-made stuff) to cover, specifically Kerlix -- and clobetesol with a vasaline kerlix gauze saturday and sunday. This is working great, even though watching it heal is like watching paint dry sometimes LOL.

It is healing actually very well. I also notice a fresh tube of manuka works better then the end of a tube. I use

it lasts me for about 6 weeks. my wound is about 3x2.5".

I photograph it so I can watch the healing very closely. I really have to invest time every day, but this particular method of caring for it has worked way better than anything else I've done.

also -- painwise I'm lucky -- I manage on half a vicodin and some coffee in the afternoons when it's bothering me. Caffine activates the opiate. You must be in a whole load of pain. I'm sorry to hear that.

One thing - take a multivitamin if you are not already. The most expensive food-based ones you can afford. Healing wounds requires a lot of protein AND a really sound balance of vitamins, every repair stage, every moving cell, every moment of rebuilding that wound requires really optimal nutrition, which can be a challenge if you are also not absorbing foods correctly. I also give myself b-12 shots every 14 days. As you know, it's a long tedious process to heal, and it's a very complex process as you see yourself. The trick is to beat the necrosis, and support the new cells -- and that takes all the advantages you can give yourself.

Hi, Just been released from hospital after my second war with PG.
My wound have healed really quickly and for the pain i am putting licqnocane (Same liquid the dentist uses for your teeth) in the cleaning solution which numbs the area before I work on it.

First PG war was on the abdomen and was in hospital for 2 1/2 months and the second time was for one month.

Still not sure about how I got it and how often it will re occur. but any support is welcome.

Hi everyone, I am in this forum for my wife was has been battling PG for about 2 years now. As I read the other post they all sound too familiar. Right now she is in the hospital for a large lesion on the side of calf. Healing is slow and painful for her. Whatever pain meds they give don't take away the pain just makes it somewhat bearable. I'm goin to see if we can use dentist topical spray when changing the bandages. She doesn't have chrons but is diabetic. So we are still searching for connective desease. Thanks all for your inputs and I'll keep checking back. I also started a page on Facebook so spread the news please.
