Remicade infusions during pregnancy

I am currently 4 months pregnant and living with Crohn's Disease. I am supposed to start The Remicade Infusions this Wed May 11th, 2011 and I am frightened that this will hurt my baby. I am a first time mom (30yrs old) and I am scared of the risks. Is there anyone out here that is in the same situation as me? Is there someone who has been pregnant on Remicade and had the baby already and can tell me some feedback on this issue? I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

There are many moms on here who have been pregnant while on remicade. Remicade is safe during pregnancy, as the molecules are too big to pass through the placenta (same with prednisone) They will most likely have you get your last infusion around 32 weeks and then again after delivery.

Sgirl is correct. We have had new mommies on meds from Pred, 6mp/Imuran, to Remicade and even Humira. The only med not to take while pregnant is Methotrexate. All had healthy babies! Hugs!

You should have had your infusion now, I hope it went well. I delivered a healthy baby boy 14 months ago and had Remicade my entire pregnancy. There were no issues during pregnancy for my son and actually my crohns did awesome during pregnancy, if only it had stayed that way : )

I have 2 remicade babies. Remicade doesn't cross the placenta until 30-32 weeks in the pregnancy. Your baby will be fine. I breastfed my babies on remicade too. Healthy, happy, intelligent kids - ages 7, and almost 5. Feel free to ask any other questions about remicade/pregnancy or search the posts on this site. There are a lot of us who have had remicade babies. Try not to worry. It's been shown to be quite safe!
