New to forum, not new to Crohn's

Hi all,
I'm a long -time Crohnie, dx in '91 (at age 22). A resection at that time left me in remission, more or less, for many years (I was on Pentasa for most of those). A few years ago I started flaring again and it's been a real roller coaster trying to find the right maintenance therapy. I am currently on Remicade, Azathioprine and Entocort. The Remi I started about 8 months ago, first at the usual 8 wk intervals, now at 6 weeks. It seemed to work good at first, but now things aren't going so well (and like a lot of us I tend to check in here when things aren't peachy). It seems like one step forward, two steps back sometimes. Grrrrr....

Thank you Nanners! I was put on Entocort and Azo in 2007 with the hope that the Azo would kick in enough for me to eventually get off the Ento. It turned out the Azo by itself was ineffective, but with the Ento it was working pretty well. I would go through periods of trying to get off the Entocort, but it worked too well. =/ By Spring of last year though (2010) neither were cutting it for me and Remi was added. Then I was taken off Ento after my first couple of infusions but have since been flaring and had it added back in. Soooo.....I just went in for a blood draw today, and if I'm not anemic they'll be doubling the Remi dose (which scares me a bit, but there you go). Failing that, they'll do another scope. And yes, my Dr. said that having the Aza with Remicade helps it work and also that it makes it easier to get back on Remi if you have to go off of it.

I'll add that I have anxiety issues too (I take Fluoxetine, which helps a lot).

Nice to meet you CD-89. Good luck with your Remicade doses! I accidentally went off the Azathioprine (misunderstood my Dr's instructions) while on Remi and went through some mild flaring. Back on it and I notice it definitely makes a difference in how Remicade works for me.
