home remedy for weathering a flare up

Hi all,

The flare up this time is really painful and nasty. I've always sought my doc's advice once I start a flare up and he usually increases the dose, or changes meds. This time, I won't see him before a long time ( may be a week) and I'm afraid he might increase the dose of pred (I'm already on 7.5 mg and fail to go lower than that. I started it 40 mgs 10 months ago and reached 7.5 2 months ago).

This time I suffer from watery voluminous diarrhea (the onset was somehow bloody) , severe abdominal pain and fatigue. No fever whatsoever. I keep taking antispasmodics to relieve pain. Is there anything I can do at home to weather this flare up or should I see my doc and bear all the consequences? Thanx for the piece of advice.

P.S. I'm on Salofalk 4 g, 150 aza, 7.5 pred, Nexium 80, mutilvitamins.

Well you could try going onto to a liquid diet for a few days to try to give your bowels some rest. Some have had success quieting flares down with a few days of this. Hugs!

Agree with Nanners.... clear fluids helps me... helps to give things a rest which can be helpful. But I'd also get in to see your doc asap.... Good luck!

Thank you very much both Nanners and bum_magnet,
I did see my doc as things became worse. As expected, he increased the dose of both solupred and azathioprine and he told me that the pain won't subside before 3 weeks.

You should check this out, her website is full of information for people with chrons disease, I hope you find it useful. The products mentioned here are quite cheap. I have ordered some myself and will let u know how it goes- wish you well
