Dawg & others who have had CDiff

My doc wants me to do a stool test to rule out C-Diff.  I really doubt that I have it as I was on antibiotics about 2 mos ago for my bronchitis but only took them for 3 days and then had to stop them as they just made me feel sicker.  But to please the doc I will do the test.

My question to those of you who have had CDiff is how much diarrhea did you have with it?  I am going 6-7 times a day and its usually in the earlier part of the day, and as is typical with most Crohns flares I feel worse in the morning and afternoon, but by evening I feel a little better.  Maybe because I can just relax more, who knows.

But other than the diarrhea, how did you feel?  Just trying to get a feel for whats going on with me.  Hugs!

I don't have Crohn's, but I do have UC, and I saw this thread. I was told a had C diff infection when I was admitted in the hospital for TPN after the colonoscopy that diagnosed me.

I didn't have any diarrhea (nor do I normally have it with my UC) prior to the hospital, and I only had a few (one every 3 days or so) completely liquid stools (I didn't eat any solids for a few weeks though) in around a week and half before they said the Flagyl had killed it off.

Once it was gone my nausea improved a little and I stopped having what I guess is tenesmus (felt like I was about to go for like 12 hours before I finally went).

The doctors/nurses would come and ask me how many stools I had that day, and when I said I hadn't gone in 2 days they would look shocked (wasn't allowed to eat solids, so what is there to get rid of though?). Guess my case is not the norm though.

I have had it twice, many years ago. I forget the exact feeling and specifics except that there is a very particular odor to the stool. When I was admitted to the hospital a few years ago with a stomach bug I had foul stool and was given a private room because they thought I had C-diff. Turned out the tests were negative, but I got to have my own room for a week anyway!

Oh that doesn't sound like nearly enough!!! When are you doing the cultures? Is he waiting for the big guns until he gets results? I don't think I would let it get too far out of control. We know our bodies and what is working and what isn't. If you aren't feeling better after a few days, please call back and insist on some prednisone or something else added in to get you out of this faster. I hate to think of you suffering needlessly. We have been down these roads for way too many years and unfortunately we know what works and what doesn't, it just takes some time to get the doctors to listen to us. Oh if we only had that silly diploma on our wall.....

See Dawg my symptoms are not like yours either. But I will still do the tests to please him.

Were your inflammation markers higher. Mine are, and haven't been this high for nearly 4 years, so I still lean towards a flare. But we will find out for sure later this week. Hope Mom is doing well, so sad you can't hug her or touch her:( Hugs!
